I agree, not only on the thing about the items, but about the art theft as well (not sure which you were referring to there Dragon). It's good that it's being sorted now; if equimagine lines stay, then it's unfair because an artist can get away with art theft, and a regular user can't.
Apologies if this is taken as offensive/rude, didn't mean it to be ^^
Exactly.
No matter what anyone thinks about art theft, its still a crime.
Indeed, totally agree with you there ^^

^ Tess even says in the first post that we can vote on particular popular equines to have them staythe same or not.
I think the lineart change will be good. I don't see why people see it as art theft, it would be art theft if Yulynh was claiming Equimagine's designs but she's not, they're just being moved to her lines. They will still be seen as Equimagine's despite the lineart change. Plus, that new draft looks gorgeous!

The switch definitely wouldn't be art theft. Art theft is the reason for the switch. And that new draft... Love it. I can't wait for the unicorn lines. (:

if you stand by this strong of a standard for theft, than the same standard would need to be applied to the Warrior cat series on here and the Malk dragons....this was not a line art issue at all...but these were based on other things (copyrights) and the site had to stop producing them as a result...but the same standard would apply and they would be altered...if Tess starts "changing" the past just where do you stop...a rhetorical question, of course, but something to think about for peeps who seem to be on the band wagon

Someone brought this up a while back. I'm not sure about the Malk dragons, but as far as the "Warrior Cats" go, we were allowed to keep them since they were natural colors and were based off of a verbal description rather than an exact copy of an image. It's a bit different than outlining a photograph and calling it your own.

quote quote quote
...not to be rude, but why are you talking about the site in 'the early days' if you joined in 2012?
I know this wasn't protruded at me, so I'm sorry for intruding. But hey, I joined like three days ago, and I was able to catch on pretty fast from other areas around the form that this isn't how the community is supposed to be, or usually is.
Just, I mean no offense at all to either of you. I'm just not a fan of the "your accounts pretty young" debacle.
It's not that hard to find that the community is pretty angry about the change, and I'm not trying to speak for you Goddess, but perhaps when you first joined the waters were a lot calmer?
I didn't mean it like that- just one of her main points was that being there in the earlier days and watching CS grow is part of what made Equi's lines special, and yet she wasn't there for it. That's all; I was just confused by what she meant. ^^
It's pretty easy to go through the archive and the wiki lists and drool over the older pets and visually see how the artwork has changed and or improved over the years. It's incredibly easy for me to see how much this site has changed and or improved as I read through the first home page posts and topics ever written. So therefor, I talk about the "early days" with confidence in my knowledge of them even though I am a newer member. Sorry if that confused you.
Always looking for wishlist items and pets. (^.^)

That's different. The owners said as long as they no longer were called by the characters/books names it was fine - they can't claim cat designs when the franchise is a book with no visuals, and neither can the dragons (forget the series) when all they are are pretty much generic designs.
In this case it's tracing - totally different.

✨ Everything I have on CS is for sale for Flightrising! Desperately looking for the familiars above. ✨
Pet trades accepted as well.

but with the warrior cats, credit was given, and they were on original lines. furthermore, you can't claim natural cat designs as your own, and obviously whoever contacted them about the cats wasn't too bothered and simply asked that they stop calling them warrior cats.
and with malk dragons, were those even based on the characters a lot of people think they were? but even if they were, different colored dragons are extremely generic. with entirely copied linearts, things could get serious, and the owners of the photos equi traced from have been contacted. it's really up to them, but shutterstock did reply saying that they're going to be looking into the issue as they take copyright and infringement very seriously.

I WANTED to put this in my signature

But there wasn't enough room
Instead of changing the equines, you should spend the time enlargening the sigs.
But whatever happens
