I mean lately, the new horses have had very boring designs, so I just put them in the pound while the old horses were actually worth keeping because I could tell there was much thought on the design. I just feel that the new horses' designs are carelessly thought out. I want variety. I'm sure that others would aggree. If anyone has any comments about my post, please pm me for I can't keep track of forums.

One of my thoughts exactly, I dont think CS will be near as good if all the horses are the same, as you said they will be very boring.

So would I be right in assuming you dislike dogs, butterfly wolves, cats and rats...?

No, I never implied that. I like the species, just not the designs. I was simply agreeing with what the person above me said, the designs have been rather plain lately where as the old ones were not near as plain. I have nothing against the artists who colored them in, I know they are great artists I simply dont love love love every design. Just my opinion.

At least with the old (and very good) lines we have something different to look at when we would like! As I posted above, there is nothing wrong or horrible about yulynhs designs or linearts, it is just a preference.[/quote]

Harpy• wrote:Minimanta: so, by your reasoning (the fact that the artist doesn't lose the original work no matter what is taken), it is alright for one to copy a published book, to record a song identical to one previously published, to claim something as their own when it isn't, since the original artist loses nothing.
That is incredibly false.

Want to put my 2 cents about this in.

I think it's more like singing someone's song to friends, or reading a book allowed. There was no profit from it. Although it id wrong to trace, if the photo's owners have no problems with it (they have been asked, I don't know if any answers are in yet), I see nothing wrong with it. It would effectively be stock photo usage.

But this thread isn't about changing the lines because of art theft. It's about changing them for unity. So instead of adding to the 150 pages about art theft, lets change back to the correct topic and discuss unity.

And why is that? I thought Art Theft was SO important, so why would they delete topics about it instead of answering them and providing a solution?

If you mean why do they delete topics users make about another user stealing art..

It's because for one, often mods can take care of it on their own without a discussion about it, or you can always submit a help ticket for it.. The reason theres a thread for this art theft is because it effects EVERYONE, which is thousands of users, not just two users. And on top of that, even though imo art theft is the main reason to change, this is also to see whether people like the designs on new lines.

For that I am afraid you will have to ask the mods. :c

To most of us, though, it's pretty important!

And I'd like to see it fixed so CS can shed a rep it's gained elsewhere for being hypocrites (for deleting discussion of this lineart snafu).

However, with the ETP, we have artists willing and ready to convert over all of the old designs to new linearts, something which probably wasn't available before. And we're also finally allowed to discuss the issues with the lineart on CS.

And, as Atwood mentioned, the Advent rerelease means these dubious linearts are "active" again.

So it's really the perfect opportunity to fix things! c:

YES BUT, This is three years LATER. We have had re-releases in the past so..WHY NOW?

Because it was never up for discussion until now.
Just because nothing was done in the past, does not mean it's somehow acceptable to continue doing nathing.

We've already had a big scandal about the lineart and decided to let it stay... why add to the shame of having a 'traced' lineart by eliminating it after approving its keeping? CS is a place where we are supossed to expect and accept mix ups and the past and all that; besides, the older linearts do have more personality... and frankly I do not like the new draft horse lines... or the pony, or the horses either.

Might I suggest a tick button on each persons user page? We could opt in or out to having the linearts changed for each of our profiles... the horses would appear with whatever lineart we prefer... if that could be coded?

I think an option button would be awsome! Then there wouldn't be so many stupid fights and arguments over new lines and all that stuff.

Exactly - posting threads about other users having copied/stolen art is not permitted on CS, and staff members are protected by that the same as any regular member.

I think wibike's idea would be easier, and i'd like it too.

wibeke wrote:Just bringing this up again, because it had somewhat good results last time. If there was something to set the lines apart, like using the arabian lines, would changing the lineart be anymore acceptable?

All this arguing is getting silly, and regardless of what decision is made there are going to be people who are upset with the decision. It's been established that the lines (a good chunk of them, anyways) are traced and that art theft is not acceptable on CS, and many people are willing to disregard this, but is there any sort of compromise that people would be willing to take?
Arguing back and forth isn't getting very far and the poll is more or less deadlocked. Maybe it's time to start looking for solutions rather than resorting to insults and rehashing the same points over and over again.

Ideas, anyone? ^^
