Like someone else posted earlier, the old horses and ponies will become like commons to a lot of people because as of right now the lineart is special and it wont be as special if they get changed.

Did you see the updated wave pony? That is a massive improvement over the somewhat blurry, orignal design, imo.
I know quite a few people (me included) who don't care much at all for the old ponies and use them as trading fodder. Trading on CS actually has very little to do with looks, anyways. People want to complete their collections, and a large section of the CS population is not going to suddenly stop wanting to trade horses just because of a line switch. CS doesn't quite work that way.

Yes I did see the wave pony, that is why I voted NO. The original look is what they should keep, if I were an artist I would not want someone to change or revamp my design in any way. I realize that she copied art and gave her art to CS and all that, but I still think it is bad enough that they are going to change the lines, so why not at LEAST keep the design looking like it did.

Equi lost control over her work after it was discovered that she traced. Her "feelings" about her art no longer need to be taken into consideration. The design was kept almost completely the same, just polished up to fit better on the new lines.

To be honest, if CS didn't do something now that so many people know about the tracing, it would tarnish CS in a heck of a lot of peoples eyes. I don't knoe if I would feel comfortable staying on a site which knowingly uses stolen lines- it would be the highest form of hypocrisy, punishing members for art theft but then turning around and usimg equis stolem lines.
That would be far, far worse tjan simplu loosing lines you love-you'd be loosing trust in the SITE you love, instead.

If I had designed for a site two-three years ago then retired, and they are now wanting to revamp my designs, I would be more than willing to let them revamp it. Why? Because the design is TWO YEARS OLD. It's old, it's not very well done. Damn, I'd even offer to revamp them myself! I've improved since I designed those.

It doesn't really matter if you like the lines or collected them. If you want to still have them even though CS is at risk and it would be extraordinarily hypocritical for CS to keep lines just because you "like" them, fine then.

The owners of the images have been contacted by various users already. It's best to get rid of the lines and keep the designs in a different form rather than get a DMCA complaint on CS and have every single design and lineart removed. As one of the mods said, we wouldn't have Equimagine horses anything. Just little boxes with "x"s in them. No voting, no protest, done immediately.

The staff said the change wouldn't go through if, say, the vote was yes 60%, no 40%, anyways.

You all know Chickensmoothie has a very, very strict policy on art theft. Now how unfair would it be if people got punished for copying work or claiming that they did it, but having art theft on the site itself? In the pets?

And yes, the art theft issue with Equimagine horses has caused a ruckus before. It was one of the reasons they were retired, or at least that's what I've heard from various users and [maybe?] staff members.

It's going to end badly for the whole site if some photographer goes "hey, that's my picture." You know that, right?

I think proper artists who design lines themselves would be much better suited to designing the ponies, and especially that wave pony - and the drafts look so nice, if the unicorns are anything like that I would be so happy <3

the point is some dont want them 'polished' not because of feelings wise but that is part of what that adopable is, take the lines away, and then the design? that a bit unfair. that leaves supporters with what they want, and the rest with nothing (well those who don't want the design to be changed)

Art theft is not tolerated here. Do not copy/trace/edit/use anybody's pictures without their express permission.
