Quite original. And Bastet's cake was really
really amazing. You two should totally start a cake-designing business

Thank you so much! It means a lot. I cannot draw to save my life, (although I WISH I could) but I guess I can make an OK cake! I really had a lot of fun making it, and I thought it was kind of cute even as it sunk into a chibi badger-like Avian. I feel really really really really blessed and lucky. I also love Kat's broccoli tree! How creative!
There were soo many neat cakes in the gallery, and I think each one is wonderful in its own way! Congrats to everyone, and I hope you had as much fun as I did! Thanks for this opportunity Tess and everyone who makes Chicken Smoothie the best site EVER!

I love all the cakes! I'm sure some professionals are the winners, but at least I had fun and made it by myself. My mother is making me type this but, she thinks that they should divide it into two groups: under 18 and over 18. I think the people who are winners deserve it! They look like they put a lot of work in them! I love, i mean love, the tree one in first place! It's awesome!

I kept thinking my cake was in the back.. But than I found I on page 13.
I found some cakes that were really good at the back, but other than that, the cake judges did a perfect job judging!
Edit: Bastet, how did you make the cake stand up like that? When I tried building a giant dog base with frosting, it collapsed.

I don't think it's really necessary to divide it into two categories-- it's not like there were hundreds of entries, and professional training isn't needed to make an awesome cake, anyway. X3
Congrats to the winners! Helping with judging was very difficult. xD

Lol, I had never worked with fondant before this cake and I had never shaped anything out or rice crispy treats either. Never had training either except what I learned from watching Cake Boss and shows like that, so I was stoked at getting third.

I don't think age categories are necessary, since it was allowed to receive help from friends and family, meaning younger kids could very well have had their moms helping out. Most people haven't had extensive cake decorating experience before, so I think it was a pretty fair competition regardless of age (I made the example cake, which wouldn't have come
close to winning, and I'm 21. But I know at least one of the prize winners is under 18.)
