Ok. First off, I never said art theft was okay, because it's not. What I was saying was that you could google search "foal laying down" or something and come up with TONS of photos that have the same pose, because that's just how foals lay. Using a photo for a basic reference of how a horse stands is not art theft. Just because someone slapped Equi's lineart on a random photo of a horse does not make it proof that it was stolen, it means that she did a good job drawing the way horses stand. But please, keep twisting my words and ignoring the mods.

You can find lots of photos with the same pose. What you can't find are images who's edges line up perfectly with the lines. If you know how to draw (I'm under the assumption you do?) then you should be able to do that. Slight changes in proportion or thickness, etc. They fit EXACTLY in more places than should be possible. What about the unicorn from harpalyces photoset? The unicorn matches excellently. It's a very strange pose as well, it mameks more sense that it was traced than it is a coincidence.
They/Them pronouns only.

@DrinaLestrange...you've seen this right? I mean, it would be next to impossible to 'reference' it that perfectly. There's referencing and tracing, this definitely goes beyond referencing. Even if she did draw her lineart freehand, it is still a complete copy of the image.

That aside, I'm also really excited to see the old designs on the new lineart c: Especially the drafts, so lovely<3

DrinaLestrange wrote:It wasn't "STOLEN" if you'd read Tess' quote on the first page. Using something as a reference and tracing are two entirely different things, I could draw a horse standing and someone could compare it to any number of images of standing horses. Just because it has the same pose doesn't mean it was stolen. All I've seen you posting about is how it was "stolen" AFTER its been said multiple times that it was not stolen, CS is not in legal trouble from it, and to stop bringing it up. Sorry but I'm sick of seeing you post the same thing over and over. This is supposed to be a discussion, not a place for people to keep saying the same stuff over and over after being told to stop.

You.. just. It IS stolen. Using something as a reference (and not giving credit) and tracing are both equally BAD and they are both art theft, especially when used for a business such as CS. Period. Don't believe me? Let's go ahead and click on the Oekaki link up there.
Reminder: Copying another person's art without permission to reproduce their work is a form of art-theft!
If you are unsure, read the full art rules here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=30437

Images which were copied, edited, or stolen from another artist. (for more details, keep reading the art rules)

Using photo references for your artwork:

If you heavily reference your artwork from a photograph then please give credit by posting a link to the original image. The reference information should be clearly visible above or below your image.

There is currently no credit given to the referenced photos AT ALL (hell, we don't even have links to some of the original photos used, just some images found on google at this point), hence, the Equimagine lines break CS's own rules. Imagine that. If they were changed to the new lines, no credit has to be given anywhere because the lines are original. Saves EVERYONE the hassle! How about that.

Sorry but this is most definitely proof that it is theft. So is this. And this.

Please read my post just a few posts up. The foals were copied, as equimagine acknowledged; the other lines may not have been.

Also, could people please stop reporting every other post in this thread? The mods are reading it almost constantly, so if something looks like a problem in general (such as off-topic posts) we can catch it ourselves and deal with it, and having the thread lit up like a Christmas tree all the time is just distracting. If it's something like a very offensive post or one linking to an inappropriate site, etc., those are fine to report as usual, but please ease up on all the 'off-topic' reports. ^^;

When Equi's foal images match up perfectly, line for line, with foal images, then it's pretty obvious that it's traced. If it was referenced- which is a perfectly fine and a very good thing to do!- then it would look similar to the photograph. It would not be identical. You just physically cannot draw by eye an perfect replica of an image. (And why would you want to? The whole point of drawing is to draw whats in your head!)
You just have to compare Equi's lines to say, Tess's horse lines. Tess's lines look similar to many running horse pictures, but no matter how much you resize and move it around there won't be a picture her horse lines up with absolutely spot-on perfect, because they were referenced, not traced.
(And imo a good job drawing a standing horse would be being able to use multiple references for a horse, and draw a beautiful horse in a completely different pose. THATS talent right there, and I take my hat off to anyone that can do it!)

Those new draft lines are just loveable. And the designs looks a lot better on the Yulunh horses, if you ask me. So - transform! :D

Aw, I don't think you were minimodding <3 Your list of opinion summaries is interesting, too - it does seem like most views come down to one or two of those points. I'm not sure if you caught my post about the trade values earlier, but another point that's come up pretty often on the 'No' side is that some worry the value/demand on the horses will drop if they're no longer on the retired lines. :3
