Because the people -some, not all, some were very nice- for it were incredibly rude and basically said you were stupid for liking a stolen lineart. I was insulted for it, so were others. Visual-wise, I prefer the old lines. Legal-wise, I prefer the regular lines. Even with that outlook I was still put down, and so were others. Since there's nothing we can do anymore we just stopped.
(I don't want to start a fight so I won't go into any more detail.)
I've saved all of the pictures, and some other users and I are making a website to display them on, so when we get that done we could always PM you. :)
If the photographer doesn't want the pictures on a site -I don't know if they do or don't- couldn't the site your making get shut down because the images are still traced?
Someone else could probably answer this in more detail but I will answer based on what I know.
If the photographer wanted to file a report, they could request that the images (not the site) be replaced or removed pending further investigation. However, the "tracing' happend three years ago and nothing has come out of it to date except accusations/arguments within CS and Tumblr.
Even Tess admitted that the biggest reason for replacing the images is in order to hold the artists to the same standard regarding art theft as CS holds its users.
(and likely to prevent further damage to CS's reputation)
So I guess the answer is that something "could' possibly happen but really is not likely because CS has had these images for years without incident.
If the photographer did not make a move when they appeared on CS, then why would he bother making a move against some little side site for someone's viewing enjoyment? We would not be creating anymore pets. Plus, the number of viewers/users would be miniscule compared to CS. It would not make much sense.
