I used to disagree with the change, but I took a picture of nearly every one of the horses+ponies in the archive, and the new unicorn and Pegasus lines look magnificent.

Since I believe that thats the topic of this thread I might as well go ahead and state my small opinion on this.
JFC I am a member of this website since 3 damn years and never really had a problem with any decisions the staff made. I respect that the copyright issue is bothering you but I loved those lines, they were and still are my favourite and there is a reason 30+% voted against it and I think it sucks that you just left those standing in the rain watching their beloved pets change into in our eyes less pleasant forms. It sucks. Honestly. Also I sincerely hope Im not the only one. I mean I read myself through a few of the pages that thread includes and found one post against it (which was being made fun of by other users), maybe I just didnt find the actual pages, maybe people stopped complaining, maybe I now am part of a dying species.
However, I would highly support you guys doing something about it, I dont know what, maybe icons in the old horse shape? Maybe a small archive showing the old and new lines somewhere outside the forum but still on this page? I know you suggest such a thing for us 'normal users' but maybe a thread were you would link to one of these? I got rushed over with the changes and didnt manage to do so and neither do I know of the existance of any savings others did. Really, I'd appreciate anything in that direction.

Taken directly from the first page:
Tess wrote:Note about related issues with CS fennec foxes:
Some users have made sure to remind us that we had a similar issue in 2010 with another CS artist (Shima.Luan) who (allegedly) copied from photograph(s) to produce the CS Fennec Foxes. I don't have it on hand but I believe there is sufficient proof of at least one of the growth stages being copied from a photograph. These are likely to also be replaced, but we don't have a new lineart yet, so we'll make a new announcement about those in the future.

CS artists draw the linearts, the ones they are changing were traced.

The old lines cannot be used on the site at all, so that includes having them up as a 'reference page' or whatever. As they were traced lines, any site that displays them would be a risk of legal action by the owners of the original images. Hence why it was suggested that if you enjoyed the old lines, you saved the pictures to your own computer. You can ask around and see if anyone else has saved the old images, but you can still save the ones that are left :)

Also, please remember that it's personal opinion on which horses are more or less plesant. Some people will like their old horses more now that they are on new lines, others won't :) Trust me, if you had read through the original thread you would have found plenty of people with your viewpoint. It is simply that people have mostly stopped beating the dead horse, as it were.

Or, here's another reason:
Because the people -some, not all, some were very nice- for it were incredibly rude and basically said you were stupid for liking a stolen lineart. I was insulted for it, so were others. Visual-wise, I prefer the old lines. Legal-wise, I prefer the regular lines. Even with that outlook I was still put down, and so were others. Since there's nothing we can do anymore we just stopped.
(I don't want to start a fight so I won't go into any more detail.)

I've saved all of the pictures, and some other users and I are making a website to display them on, so when we get that done we could always PM you. :)

You are exactly right. It was the ugliest I have ever seen on CS. If you did not agree with the majority, you were insulted, put down, and accused of supporting stolen art regardless of your reasons. Then, when the change went through - it got even worse. The entire thread got personal and people were steady repeating themselves every other page. Some were even saying that the site was going to shut down if we did not change the art and it would be our fault. (meaning the No's on the art change.)

What hurt me the most was Tess's reasons for us voting did not match the reasons she gave for the change. According to her post - we were voting on unity and items fitting the horses... then, suddenly she changed them because of art theft - which wasn't even mentioned originally. It made the votes horribly unfair because we didn't know if we were voting on what Tess said, or what other users were saying. Honestly, it was a joke.

I don't want to get into details because it is not worth arguing over but I will say - I have lost my trust in anything Tess or any of the mods say or do. I know now to be on my toes at all times. CS is rarely fair and it is more cut-throat than people realize. Much bias exists here whether you choose to see it or not...

Anyways.... didn't mean to go on that long. My main point is that - yes, it was ugly, yes, there were plenty supporting both sides of the issue, and yes, as soupalicious said - there is no use "beating a dead horse." We have to make the best of this situation. There is no use whining about it. In all honestly.... I am just glad it was decided and we all can more forward. I was ssoooo tired of all of the fighting... I reached a point where I didn't care either way. It's over pixels - I will live.

Cherry - Can you please pm me on that website? I would really like to see it. Thanks :D
