As a person who uses a lot of their items I was very pleased to see things such as the Lost and Found and finally the item re-release box become realities. In fact I can agree with others in that we probably need more item re-releases through the year to play catch up for all the years we didn't have those and 'healthy' item levels weren't being maintained among the user base.
UR items though are a terrible idea for a lot of reasons that have already been brought up. The lack of visual indicators to let newer users know they've potentially got a valuable item on their hands and the sheer difficulty in trading an item like that fairly due to the lack of item rarity tags are big indicators that either cannot or are difficult to address. If they could be though, I'd be much more on board with Ur Items.
Currently collecting PPS dogs.Music makes you braver.

I feel like as with any item, they are fun to collect, and this is just another version of getting new items to collect. Not a ton of people try to get full collections of pets/items, so, with however many get released it would be a fun new thing that's interesting to collect for said collectors. I can see why people want rarity tags on items, but the game's only purpose isn't just for trading. Trading has always been weird and inconsistent anyway. So I don't see why rarity tags would help anyway. I like the idea of UR items. Just more items to collect!
Yes, trading has always been weird and inconsistent. That's why people build things like the Lists and Item Worth Threads and other stuff to try and get some sense of what things are going for...trading is a HUGE part of the site; items being tradable is literally one of the core features of the website? It's not the sites ONLY purpose, but it's baked into it. Of course people will want to get the most of their trades. Some people don't care if they have a full collection it's true, but making sure they get something they want that's worth what their items/pets are worth seems reasonable to me?
Also making it more "interesting to collect for said collectors" can be a double-edged blade. Many items are already so incredibly difficult to find, especially limited store sets. And again...they have to TRADE FOR THESE ITEMS. So knowing worths/values/rarity would be infinitely helpful to collectors in order to achieve their goals.
I just don't see why UR items should be barred just because they might be too hard to get/some people might not want to trade them or value them properly. I think the issue that needs to be addressed here is moreso item value and trading awareness. Scammers will always be a problem no matter what, so education and accessibility is the best way to fight that.
meronwa wrote: i think the trading aspect is daunting, but you don't have to trade for them if you don't want to. -snip- definitely agree that maintaining awareness is key, and best to avoid trading dec 18 anything in general. as long as there is prior warning and the concept is grasped by players, scam/ninja trades could be avoided.
Basically this ^
Totally agree with the quality of life improvements though, and I do like the idea of an unreleased item grab bag! (I hope this doesn't come across negatively <3)

i agree with this completely! just because a super rare and hard to obtain UR item will be (shockingly) Super Rare and Hard to Obtain... doesnt mean it shouldnt be released. thats like arguing they shouldnt do UR pet releases either because it will be difficult for collectors to get them. like, yes. thats the point xD

Fully agree, struggling to understand the point of view of "no dont release them or I wont have a years complete pets/items" because for someone else, receiving a high value item may help them trade for something they never would have been able to otherwise so whose needs are more important?
agreed with others, yes release them, yes find a way to make them recognisable as special release (announcements/item names) and post warnings to scammers but at the end of the day more possibilities is a good thing and everyone needs goals/things to aim for! All we can do it encourage people to use the "how much is this item worth" thread before making any trades if they are unsure what they are dealing with - its a good skill to learn on here

I think it might be a good idea, if we could get rarities put on the items. Seeing stars and dates really helps me trade, and seeing absolutely nothing and trying to trade with others who actually understand what items are "rare" or "free" from old events, is frustrating. I can count how many trades I've sent that have been cancelled because I didn't know what I had, or what I was asking for. I want more transparency on how much items could be worth, based on their date of release, whether or not it's a store item or free, and how "common" it was to get the item. I know that would most likely be a long term process of cataloguing all the items. But I think it would be worth it to finally understand what on Chicken Smoothie is going on in item trades. It's just a little too crazy right now, especially just trying to find stuff in the item archive.
I'd vote no if item rarities and dates aren't visibly added to all the items. Or at least, all the items that cost money. Just a little C$ tag would be nice. A Token tag would be cool too. That way it is easier to tell if an item was for free or for token trade in.

Labeling store items would be great as person above mentioned. Just more labeling in general. A little C$ symbol in the name of the items(not on the png itself) like how they label store pets would be great. Putting the date the item was released would also be a huge quality of life change so we donβt have to dig through the archives to figure out where this random tiny bead of millions others was from. Even a search bar in the archive would help with that.
If itβs not possible to add rarity tags to the items we at least need a new tab category specifically for paid currency store items and special release items so they donβt get confused with normal items. We already have a tab for events and even some popular item sets like animal eggs have their own entirely separate tab category. I know the sets tab is fairly newer so itβs definitely possible.

I really loved the UR items release last year! Iβve been on CS since 2012 and two of the most exciting changes over the years (to me) have been the item pound and the item rerelease & UR items.
I had to trade for the UR cakes, and while it was expensive pet wise, to me it was worth it because I love items. Other players happily do the same for the UR pets.
Does a UR item release make completing collections harder? Sure, but so does the UR pet release.
As noted in the first post, UR items would also give newer users the chance to adopt something valuable that they can use to get into rarer trading.
These points have already been brought up but I wanted to include them for more support:
- a better way of identifying UR items (idk if small text like the βC$β on store pets would work or not? Might be too distracting for making scenes/dressups, especially if the item is small) A bolded name with βURβ and maybe a star or something would also be another good option, just to make it obvious from the name alone
- def more advance notice on Dec 18th for newer players
- maybe something mid year like a βChristmas in Julyβ type thing for more item rereleases? Or the ability to adopt more items on Dec 18th to get more back into the trading pool
Overall Iβm definitely pro UR items again!

Soooooooo, I decided to weigh in, but know I am not the main CS consumer nor a particularly active player...
After I completed my pet and item collection in 2012 it became harder and harder to maintain the pets so I decided to give away some of my higher value pets and just focus on items and that is the collection I have kept complete. I usually buy C$ to buy from the store for new sets.
I LOVE the item rereleases as I think it is very important, but I HATED the UR items. One of the nice things about maintaining an item collection has been that none of the new ones are all that rare.... I had to do the thing I quit collecting pets to avoid which was engaging with the market as they came out.
If UR items happen again I think there is a good chance that I will stop trying to keep my item collection complete which will save me IRL $ on the CS store, but it was one of the things that kept bringing me back to the site to engage. (I know that may come off as confrontational, but I want to be honest about where I stand on it. I won't leave CS for it, but I bet I check in less since I don't have to worry about pet or item releases really.)
