I think someone was hungry while they were suggesting names. Out of nine pets in the same group, I just got the names "Marzipan," "Taco Bell," "Quiznos," and "Radish." XD I've gotten a lot of other food names, too.

On a different note, I've found the generator surprisingly often comes up with names that fit quite well for the pet. Like this one:
