Sorry about that. Hopefully this is the more appropriate thread to post this in.

The Shima foxes are changing? Why? D:

Traced

Would love to see what the other stages are traced from, so far the only proof I've seen is the growing stage. The fully grown Shima Fox doesn't look like any Fennec I have ever seen before.

Strange that stages that were original images are being replaced. It feels somewhat like the staff are just trying to expunge some former artists and are looking for reasons to do so. I can only assume some sort of past drama.

Don't get me wrong, I adore the new changes, but to completely remove all work an artist has done for the site seems insulting. Equimagine for example made more alterations and revamps then any other artist I've seen here, she attempted to correct her mistakes and no one can say she didn't try. However she is still being ousted for her efforts.

I've seen other images on this site that were 'supposedly' traced but are not going to be replaced.

both of the artists whose adopts are being replaced are no longer artists or even active here, so its not like they can come in and replace the particular stages that were traced

plus now we can have fennec foxes again during holidays as well as the drafts and the unis, im more excited for the future than looking at this as an insult of the past

See. I quite enjoyed this response. I brought up to someone else though that it would be nice to have a database or a Chicken Smoothie history tab to show past images, that way the efforts of past artists can still be viewed and acknowledged even after the changes go completely through.

If for the policy of the site requires that the traced images need to be removed even from such a database there are other images from the artists that can be used, as we all know, not every image being replaced has been traced.

Time is a precious thing, if someone commits their time to give you a bunch of freebie images (traced images excluded) I would say that is worth remembering in some capacity.

Just a thought, or two, or three. :3

Tess already said that people can make a database of the replaced images, but CS will not host the old images anymore since they are traced, and even they would write that they are not officially using the images anymore, they are still traced and CS could have held accountable for art theft.

Fact is that the traced images have to be replaced. While the designs are the property of CS, the lines are traced, and thus the designs have to be moved to the other lineart. Also past artists are mentioned at the staff page. In my eyes the userbase can be glad that the pets where just not deleted in one fell swoop to avoid a lawsuit in the first place and the artists go through all the effort to give the traced pets a second chance so to say.

I think you missed something somewhere. My discussion is mainly about images that were not traced, why they are being replaced and the impact that might have on the artist. I mentioned before that it feels like their genuine efforts are getting swept under a rug. Sure other users could make a site for the old lines and art but an official capacity would show the site's appreciation.

And sure they could have deleted them all entirely, but I think the backlash would have been rather chaotic.

I'm not going to start anything, I just agree with this and would also like to see the evidence of the Shima Foxes being traced but no-one seems to be able to produce any... I haven't even seen the piece of evidence mentioned in this post let alone evidence of other stages being traced :/

It is a better save then sorry approach (since it is still unclear what images where not traced by those artists in question), and also it would break continuity with the pet litters if say only the adults would have the same new lineart, or just certain stages, since Yuls and Equis style are vastly different, makes sense to you?

And as already said, Shima and Equi have long left the site, I doubt that they still care for CS.

@Acidic Angel
The evidence of the traced shima fox is in this thread, sadly it is not possible to search in announcement threads.
