Atome.. I really resent that comment implying that I am not looking at things reasonably.. and that I am not thinking of
CS. Please word it a bit differently becuz your comments make my blood boil and prolly a few others.
Very first post-
The unicorns and donkeys will also be updated, but the unicorn lines are not finished yet.
A better question is, what about the Zebras? If they're still being released that is.

Atwood wrote:For myself, having the old designs on the new lines would make them shoot up in value to me. :3 The equimagine horses were ones that I collected solely for the sake of a complete collection (except for my one Quarter Horse hoard), but the Yulyhn horses are ones that I enjoy far more. There are probably a fair number of people who feel the same way, so while one group's interest in the pets might drop with the change, other people's interest would very likely rise significantly. It's impossible to predict at this point which side would have the bigger influence on total demand on the horses, but from the poll it seems there are more people who would like to see a change than those who are against it, so my guess is that demand would rise a small amount overall with individuals possibly showing larger effects one way or the other, depending on how well the designs transferred over.
Speaking of the transfers, I was asked about 15 pages ago about how closely the conversions would follow the originals, but I had to leave before I could answer. A couple of others answered already, but I'll add my own $0.02 as well. :3 The designs would probably be copied over fairly closely to the original, but strong consideration would be given to the 'spirit' of the original as well. The wave pony is an excellent example (image nabbed from someone's signature):

It's easy to see that the design isn't a carbon copy of the original, which lacked a lot of detail and was rather difficult to identify (when that one came out, equimagine had to confirm it was meant to be a wave, as I recall). The updated version has more details, cleaner design, and is overall probably closer to equimagine's vision for that pony's design than the original. ^^
Atwood is right. This is a good idea. The pet's design will be a lot better and these pets will live to see another day. I have to admit Atwood's argument won me over. To perdict the future is the work for the people with no time of their own. We must do this to live in the present, not the future or the past.

Please people.
It's alright to have an opinion, it's great to have one in fact! But you have to look at this reasonably and choose what is best for CS as a site, not what would make you the most happy.
There is a vote here because if enough people want the horses to stay the same for their 'selfish personal reasons' it becomes what is best for the site.
If it's that important tess will do what she chooses regardless of the vote.
No, it does not just become what's best for the site. It simply becomes a site that caters to everything the members want. Which is not always a good thing.

I was not referring to you nor did I ever mention anyone in particular so I resent your comment implying that I was. That's quiet rude of you to imply such a thing of a person you do not know at all.

I agree 100% with Atwood <3 thank you for posting that, it was very well put!

I like some of the designs but the lines have thrown me for years, I would be able to actually use the ones I want from Equimagine if they were on the new lines cause items would actually be able to fit them!
I think we should stick with just saying what we want for the site like Tess asked for (ie. keep them, get rid of them), and let the staff deal with the issues of the copyright. It's not really our place to fight this battle, the staff are more than capable of taking care of it.
BBkat; if the lines change over the zebras would be getting fresh new lines too as far as I know from what I have heard

This annoys me to no end. Photography is art. People must have creativity and patience to take the right picture. But regardless whether or not photography is an art form or not (which it is), how is tracing GOOD? It is not her work, it is copying a horse with little to no effort. It is not difficult to trace. Tracing does not show your style or skill. It's a crime just like plagiarism or using someone's artwork.
Have you tried to trace a picture? it takes more effect then one thinks, and what is the difference between tracing and using a photo as a reference and making the 'art' look exactly like the photo?
Actually, it's one of the easiest things to do. Our art teacher gets us to do it a lot and it takes little effort.
Making your artwork exactly like the reference is also a violation of copyright laws, if I'm correct.
On another not, I'm all for this. I much prefer Yul's linearts - they're far more realistic.

When I was browsing the item archive searching for stuff to add to my wishlist I noticed this item-

Which looks as if it were designed to fit the old line art. Is it(and any others there might be, since I am hunting through that many items) going to be changed to fit the other line arts? Or does it already do that? I don't have the item so I can't check myself.
Still curious.

I do hope all those items get swapped for ones that will fit the change

Yes I did trace - as a little kid. It's not hard, especially when it's just the lineart.
And referencing isn't the same. You can reference a pose without it lining up almost exactly. You can reference a pose while Adding your own unique quirk to it. When referencing people often use photos meant for use as well - not those who belong to one person and one person only unless they give the said person permission.

Copying is not the same as referencing. Please refer to
this thread.
