I don't mean to blame/offend anyone but can you guys take it somewhere else, please?

Actually this forum IS for the purpose of discussing the ethics of the change.

THIS (above) forum is for the purpose of just discussing the changes themselves.

For starters, I think we let equi have another chance because she was very well liked and I think her original art theft was an accident. We're human, we make mistakes sometimes, even artists. For the record, equi was a horse artist for less than 2 years. If you look at the dates of her first and last sets, she started in May 2009 and finished in September 2010. She was only an artist for about 17 months, not three years. When the lines were found to be stolen, she changed them, and then it was decided that we needed a new artist because there was still suspicion of art theft floating around. I've been around since equi's original lines were introduced, I remember all this. And it's not that horses weren't popular, it's that people were still worried about art theft. A lot of people were still suspicious of equimagine and there might have been more art theft proven, I'm not sure. And as far as I'm aware, everything was dealt with as soon as possible, including changing all of equimagine's old linearts into new ones.
This is in no way intended to be rude. I'm just a supporter of the change stating my opinion just like everyone else. I personally think changing them was best for the website. That might have to do with the fact that I like Yul's lines a lot more, though. xD
Yeah, I know I'm not in the minority (at least as far as members who were around back when Equi was doing the horses and when the big controversy started about the tracing back in '10) in saying that after the first whispers of tracing and art theft surfaced (quickly to be squashed and deleted as fast as they were posted) in March of '10 I lost all respect for the entire equine collection on CS. I even contemplated just deleting all of my equimagine horses. Every single one from both my personal collection and all trade groups. I felt that... ...bad about even possessing them. And I think it's why I've always despised those Gummi Ponies so much. The description for them on the adoption page that month was something about a last tribute or saying goodbye to the original pony lines. Like those evil tained traced stolen lines were something to be proud of. Like they deserved any recognition and appreciation![]()
Anyway, I decided to keep them for the sake of my collection but viewed them all as cheap worthless things that I'd never again trade anything respectable for.
Then along came Yulynh and the problem wasn't solved but was at least no longer being added to with every new set of still questionable lines released each month. I wondered immediately if there would some day come a time when someone would finally take on the daunting task of transferring the original equine designs onto Yulynh's blessed linearts. I figured it wouldn't come any time soon though as it would be a looooot of work and someone(s) would need to be able to dedicate a lot of time to the site to get the job done. I could understand, with everybody on staff volunteering their time and services why it wouldn't be expected to be priority for anybody. But I am so very happy to see it's finally being done. Someone is finally stepping up and doing this wonderful thing for us. ^_^

honestly i never knew people felt that way i didn't join in that year but it's interesting to see some people devalued them because they where traced.

Since the zebras are on a modified version of equimagine ponies, and the ponies are copied from a photograph, unfortunately these are destined to be replaced as well. We will make a whole new lineart for the zebras (not a modified pony). We'll put up an announcement when the zebra lines have been completed so you can see (and make trade decisions) before they get changed. I wouldn't expect the change will cause any loss or gain in demand - since the extreme rarity is one of the main reasons the zebras are so highly sought after, and the rarity won't change.

I just want some vague picture, I mean, i'd love just some classification so I can quit checking ym Zebra everyday cx

Would I be allowed to make a thread for transparent versions of the old lineart so those who missed them can have them?
lol creepy
I think this was actually being talked about before but nothing solid came through..? It would be cool for the members who were attached to those old linearts to have some place to view them. I remember bringing it up though if it could be a place which is "private only" for the eyes of CS members who want to see them and not on a "public" venue, since we're trying to keep the traced lines off the site...I remember someone suggested keeping them on Google docs or something, and then just to have the cs public know which link to click...
Sorry if that was kinda weird and rambly I just got up XD
