Coalchasers coal pet isn't fake. It's a real custom pet.

All other fake pets you just draw items on it when you make it. A "fake" pet is just a piece of art that resembles a CS adoptable becuse it's having a similar name bar as the CS ones.

Custom CS pets are made by the CS staff, but there is no way to ask for one.

You can read about it here: Custom Pets and how to get one.

Right click it and then click properties, if it has something other than a chickensmoothie.com address as the URL then most likely it is not a chickensmoothie pet.( I know this works on explorer and mozilla firefox)

You can't trade fake pets, thay can't be added to accounts. There is no way they could be added in trades.

If the pet you traded away has dissapeaed maybe the person you traded it to deleted it? It's fully possible to just delete a pet. Otherwise they may just have traded it to someone else or renamed it.

A "fake pet" is just a drawing, nothing more. It can't be added to an account or traded.

Can a fake pet look like anything?
And can it be in a group with your real pets?
I want to make one, and it will have the body, but not the markings, of a CS cat.
Is this O.K?
