TLDR; No on UR Items.
Re-releasing items in general?
YES, absolutely, please dear god keep doing that.
But UR Items were and, imo, always will be a mistake.
Since the votes seem to be heavily on the favoring UR items to come back, I just want to bring up a bunch of quotes from others in this topic that hit the nail no the head for why I heavily dislike them along w/some things we can do to mitigate damage if they're released again: (nothing to do w/adding rarities b/c that's already been shut down by admin so arguing the point is moot)

LOVE that you listened to one of the best suggestions posted here, to change the UR Item names and make them look more special... But this doesn't quite do it LOL

Just make it "UR Dragon Cake (Special Release)" or something LOL or "UR Dragon Cake ⭐"
Yes, just make it one of the suggested updated names (I prefer the one w/the star; maybe make it a rainbow star to match the UR rarity tag?). As it is now it just looks cluttered and confusing. Bold the names too, that'll help!

Basically all of this. Plus re-releasing items more often throughout the year is a fantastic idea! Someone suggested having another release be on CS's birthday and I think that would be the perfect time.
stealthxstar wrote:items are already impossible to trade. even if i got a UR item what would i do with it? very few people want items, and even less want to trade their pets for items.
Riley ♥ wrote:I don't believe UR items would be a good idea. I have a ton of items in my inventory right now, and I have no way of knowing if any of them are rare or valuable unless I put in a lot of time to research every single one. Most items have no value or demand whatsoever
Kalid wrote:The additional chance of lucking out and getting a high demand item is nice, but being able to trade older or high vaue items is never a guarantee. Not only do some people not value items at all, there are now 2 decades of free releases vs limited store sets to keep track of. (Side note: a way to find an items release year in the My Items listing would be FANTASTIC. Much easier than opening a 50 tabs trying to find a specific object.)
The chance to get a new valuable thing is appealing, but in general, i find the unstable rarities of URs extremely frustrating. Items will be even worse to manage, as item values swing wildly based on the user. Overall, i would prefer no new UR items, just the rereleased item adopts.
Mewdove wrote:Honestly I wish I could change my vote because if UR items are released again and it's a super cool item that everybody is gonna want it.... will not be fun. i can hardly get the pets i want anyway and items are already very very hard to trade for or trade off. If they stay recolors or like the cakes I probably wouldn't mind as much but having a brand new item that not many people can get feels.... not good honestly. the most i want from a game is just being able to have the cool or cute pets and items i want and making that harder- i just wouldn't want that.
ellebee wrote:As an avid item collector, finding out UR Items got released filled me with dread honestly. They were a beautiful design, and it's an incredible idea in theory! For me, not having a rarity tag isn't a huge deal to me. Items have never had them, and it's not as if these are the first rare items to ever exist. The value for the cakes was generally settled on after a few months of trade data.
Honestly, the main reason I'm not in support of them is because:
1. The cakes aren't a very high demand item to anyone other than collectors. Despite this, it's still worth a lot all things considered. Can you imagine the worth of an item that actually had high demand like a plush? That would be an absolute nightmare
2. It honestly just makes item collecting harder, it's a cool idea in theory, but items are a lot more versatile than pets are. UR Pets have a lot of their appeal because they're incredible unique in comparison to other pets, like foods, unique linearts, and a higher attention to detail. (Ignoring the obvious, being the exclusivity and rarity). Items have always been able to be anything and everything, with varying levels of detail. So I just really can't see any reason to add in URs other than to throw a curveball at collectors and give others a chance for more rare fodder
Despite this, I am absolutely still in favor of adding items into the advent event as something you can get re-releases of. It's something that's never been explored before, and I had a great time with it last year! Maybe the RRs will bring about some new collectors or introduce some unique dressups that may not have been made otherwise! I'm looking forward to the item regardless of what staff decide on, and thank you for asking us for input!
This. A popular UR item is just asking for trouble, especially for collectors. I know that I'm struggling to complete my item collection because NO ONE HAS ANYTHING I'M LOOKING FOR, and if they do they're not trading it b/c they too are hunting for a complete collection! Or no one wants my rarer items in exchange because so many of them are so hard to move. That's why I think item re-releases in GENERAL are a great idea. Just NOT the UR Items on top of that.
And YES please, an easier way to find items in the archives is sorely needed. As is a way for trades with them to auto-cancel like pet trades do.
Ruruskadoo wrote:Celozon wrote:Though I've also seen a suggestion for pet pages just link to their location the archives and that would also solve that issue and wouldn't need to only apply to re-releases.
That would be amazing, it would solve so many problems! Normally unless I recognize a particular pet I have to go searching through the archives each year to identify the original release date of my rereleases, so a direct link to its place in the archives would save a lot of time.
Please, this would be SUCH a good quality of life change if implemented. I 100% agree with this idea!

For both pets and items, there are a lot of changes that need to be made to protect players from being taken advantage of. It's already way too easy for a scam out of a Dec 18 RR pet. Items will be much worse.
2. UR pet should be immediately labeled as UR (if they already are, disregard. I can't remember if they are) -snip-
This is also a really good change that I think needs to be implemented. Just show the new UR's rarity at birth. It'll make people far less likely to be scammed into trading them for peanuts.
8catpaws wrote:Dreamfall wrote:I personally don’t like the idea.
The focus on this site is and always has been collecting pets, with items being just an add on to those said pets. There are some reeaaaally awesome and cool ones and it‘s already hard enough to trade for them without them being ur. I dunno, I personally don’t want the extra stress of trying to collect them, ESPECIALLY not if they are going to be extra awesome so I feel the need to have them. If that makes any sense xD
Just my point of view, I also understand why some people (well, a lot obviously) like the idea.
I second this as an avid item collector. With monthly store items being temporary now, we already have a rare item series of sorts through them so I think the UR would make it insanely hard to get to the point of not even trying. Y’all could do a holiday gift bag at the end of the year for unreleased items at the store for a limited time at free or a discount which could use those unused models as well as provide a designated space for unlabeled or non set random items
Idk I just agree with all of this. I REALLY love the suggestion of putting all the "unused" items in a store bundle (either free to about to be bought w/c$) into the item store at the end of the year.

I also want to address this comment in particular:
Kabuski wrote:I think it's interesting that the conversation is hyper-focused on whether or not items can be traded or it's hard to determine their value. I feel like as with any item, they are fun to collect, and this is just another version of getting new items to collect. Not a ton of people try to get full collections of pets/items, so, with however many get released it would be a fun new thing that's interesting to collect for said collectors. I can see why people want rarity tags on items, but the game's only purpose isn't just for trading. Trading has always been weird and inconsistent anyway. So I don't see why rarity tags would help anyway. I like the idea of UR items. Just more items to collect!
Yes, trading has always been weird and inconsistent. That's why people build things like the Lists and Item Worth Threads and other stuff to try and get some sense of what things are going for...trading is a HUGE part of the site; items being tradable is literally one of the core features of the website? It's not the sites ONLY purpose, but it's baked into it. Of course people will want to get the most of their trades. Some people don't care if they have a full collection it's true, but making sure they get something they want that's worth what their items/pets are worth seems reasonable to me?
Also making it more "interesting to collect for said collectors" can be a double-edged blade. Many items are already so incredibly difficult to find, especially limited store sets. And again...they have to TRADE FOR THESE ITEMS. So knowing worths/values/rarity would be infinitely helpful to collectors in order to achieve their goals.
