Hi, I just joined last month and been debating if I should even give my opinion/input on this topic discussion considering I'm extremely new user. Though, I thought maybe I could even if my opinion/input is not heard because I'm a new user.

Now, I'm not very familiar with item trading as I recently just started item trading a little bit and I had a few accepted trades and a few declined; whether they were fair or not, I would not know because items do not have a "rarity tag". Which I think would be awesome if that was implemented or something similar to rarity tags for items to help us know the worth of each item.

With that being said, yes, I would love to see UR items released - though I do have my concerns such as; how will we know if it's a UR item and how will we know how much each UR item is worth. As I noticed that the item trading is kinda all over the place due to not having any clear guides to item trading (at least I haven't found any guides to CS items trading, unless I missed it?)

I understand that CS revolves more around pets than items which could be why items don't have "rarity tags" but I'm not 100% sure. I could be 100% or partially right and partially wrong. Though that's not the topic of this.

If CS Staff was to release UR items I would think things that have not been created. We got, just as a few examples; plushies & creatures, backgrounds, flowers/plants, and Holiday themed items. How about we have arts and crafts items (there's only one set that I know of that is artsy and that's the free items in the CS store) or perhaps we could do fandom items (such as; My Little Pony - since they are not copywrited due not being unique species) - another item idea is gems/crystals. I am not the best with coming up with any sort of ideas, so if these are not acceptable you can scratch them out.

I hope this input/opinion is okay and I hope this helps at least a little bit.

It's a lot harder to do rairty for items due to every item being classified differently then pets it would be nice but considering the work that would need to go into it I doubt it's possible anytime soon

As someone who has been trading for a long time, and actively trades my pets for items, its INCREDIBLY hard to find items I am actually looking for, due to so many sitting on dead accounts.

I of course vote for items to be re-released. It would help people like me get a real chance in obtaining elusive items.

As for UR items, I think it's a lovely idea. I would prefer to have big items, ie a background or body clothing. I also HEAVILY suggest endorsing "item worth" threads which have spreadsheets for popular and valuable items.

I always refer to this one: https://www.chickensmoothie.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=4608171

Personally, I would like to see it somewhere obvious, like on the page you get the items from.

Just my 2 cents as a long time trader.

i love the idea of an item re-release but not so much as new ur items to be honest haha, i think it makes it a lot difficult especially since like others have mentioned, items dont have a specific value and so some newer users can get scammed off of it, eg a vr pet for for a ur item and stuff

For everyone wanting rarity Tags, saying they cant be bothered to Look Up values, i want you to remember that pets have rarity Tags and you still have to Look Up values.

People trade Omgsr's for Very rares, as Long as its The correct pets in either Side. And Extremely rare for Extremely rare is often 'unfair'.
If anything The list of valuable items is shorter than any 'pet list' we curently have or used in The past.

As of now we have 4(?) categories of valuable items
1. Retired Store items ( 2009 christmas, 2010 December, 2012 December, 2021-now bi-monthly)
2. Old specific Event items (2008 - 2012 easter, Summer, Christmas, 2013-2019 Summer Event)
3. Limited: DIY- Cake, Semi- Costums, Borked items
4. UR

Staff have Said we wont get Item rarity, but they definitly could add a purple Star to all retired Store items, a Red Star to what i named 'limited' and a gold Star to Urs ( additionally to The Item rename jprspereira proposed)
And Put this Star guide in announcements.

It wouldnt gives them rarity but It would give clarity, seperating them from free/ Event adopts.

Yes this wouldnt solve all Problems and some of The complaints in this thread are valid, but It would Help Most Users tremendously and could realistically be done since its Not that many items that would need to be marked ( in comparison to coding a New function)

Ninja trading is when an experienced user specifically targets new accounts to scam them of their valuable pets by purposely offering less than the pet is worth. A new user might not notice what their pet is worth and accept the trade. This happens the most around events and dec 18 rereleases.

Just throwing in the thread I use for item values in case someone needs references
Forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=3719854

The current item situation really is unfortunate and for the same reasons you mentioned.
-Lots of the rarer items sit on dead accounts because there wasnt an option to give them to the pound. Many users would find clicking through hundreds of tiny donate items tedious anyway. Or they forget they have the items and they never get redistributed.

-Many users keep one of each item for collecting purposes regardless of if they use them or not. This also makes obtaining the super old ones very difficult since they’re also locked up until that user decides to leave or they don’t want the item anymore. (Thank you item rereleases)

-Some users don’t trade their items at all because they don’t know what they’re worth and don’t want to deal with digging through threads to figure it out. It’s easier to say no and cancel. Even further thinning out the item trading pool.

- Other items are valued based on popularity even if that item is plentiful. So you can be expected to pay some rare pets for items that most people have from just casually playing and getting free releases. We have items that we know for sure are rare like the pocky and the rainbow smoothie, and then we have stuff like animal eggs that I feel aren’t as valuable as what’s being asked for them. Animal eggs are plentiful but popular. People hike up the price because we have no official references for what to ask for.

I know over and over weve been told that it would be too much work or the way it’s set up won’t support it. To that I recall when the entire site got an art overhaul for all of the existing fox and equine line due to a tracing issue with the artist of the lines. All of the old pdfs were deleted and staff had to go through and recolor all of the pets on the new lines. I believe that was 2012 or around that.
If staff could do that, I think it’s possible to add item rarities if enough code knowledgeable staff got together Yes it would be time consuming and some files might have to be reworked, but it would solve so many problems with the site overall. We even been begging for a change for countless years. Heck the community could probably help if they asked.

If anything at all, can we please be able to see dates by the item names like we do pets? I hate that I have to dig through the archives to double check a specific item someone sent me a trade offer for. Time consuming and inconvenient. Especially when it’s some random tiny rock or flower I have no clue what date it was given.

I think this will make trading WAY harder than it already is, UR Items will absolutely put the CS economy further in the mud than it already is, I mean I have to literally give away my entire account and then some just for a single bee? This will make things worse in my opinion :(

TLDR; No on UR Items.
Re-releasing items in general?
YES, absolutely, please dear god keep doing that.
But UR Items were and, imo, always will be a mistake.

Since the votes seem to be heavily on the favoring UR items to come back, I just want to bring up a bunch of quotes from others in this topic that hit the nail no the head for why I heavily dislike them along w/some things we can do to mitigate damage if they're released again: (nothing to do w/adding rarities b/c that's already been shut down by admin so arguing the point is moot)

jprspereira wrote:Guys, I LOVE that you listened to one of the best suggestions posted here, to change the UR Item names and make them look more special... But this doesn't quite do it LOL

Image

Just make it "UR Dragon Cake (Special Release)" or something LOL or "UR Dragon Cake ⭐"

Yes, just make it one of the suggested updated names (I prefer the one w/the star; maybe make it a rainbow star to match the UR rarity tag?). As it is now it just looks cluttered and confusing. Bold the names too, that'll help!

boodles wrote:I think it’s hard to value UR items because items just don’t have consistent values, I’d guess mostly because they don’t have rarity tags. I’d be happy without UR items but I do like the item re-release.

mercer wrote:I loved what I saw some other user said, about having item re-releases more often throughout the year rather than once a year c:

Mirenoch wrote:I'm not a fan of UR items. Its just more items that will be unobtainable for 99% of players and for newbies to be scammed out of. Especially since items dont have rarity tags or any indicator that something is a store item or UR item.

Basically all of this. Plus re-releasing items more often throughout the year is a fantastic idea! Someone suggested having another release be on CS's birthday and I think that would be the perfect time.

stealthxstar wrote:items are already impossible to trade. even if i got a UR item what would i do with it? very few people want items, and even less want to trade their pets for items.

Riley ♥ wrote:I don't believe UR items would be a good idea. I have a ton of items in my inventory right now, and I have no way of knowing if any of them are rare or valuable unless I put in a lot of time to research every single one. Most items have no value or demand whatsoever

Kalid wrote:The additional chance of lucking out and getting a high demand item is nice, but being able to trade older or high vaue items is never a guarantee. Not only do some people not value items at all, there are now 2 decades of free releases vs limited store sets to keep track of. (Side note: a way to find an items release year in the My Items listing would be FANTASTIC. Much easier than opening a 50 tabs trying to find a specific object.)

The chance to get a new valuable thing is appealing, but in general, i find the unstable rarities of URs extremely frustrating. Items will be even worse to manage, as item values swing wildly based on the user. Overall, i would prefer no new UR items, just the rereleased item adopts.

Mewdove wrote:Honestly I wish I could change my vote because if UR items are released again and it's a super cool item that everybody is gonna want it.... will not be fun. i can hardly get the pets i want anyway and items are already very very hard to trade for or trade off. If they stay recolors or like the cakes I probably wouldn't mind as much but having a brand new item that not many people can get feels.... not good honestly. the most i want from a game is just being able to have the cool or cute pets and items i want and making that harder- i just wouldn't want that.

ellebee wrote:As an avid item collector, finding out UR Items got released filled me with dread honestly. They were a beautiful design, and it's an incredible idea in theory! For me, not having a rarity tag isn't a huge deal to me. Items have never had them, and it's not as if these are the first rare items to ever exist. The value for the cakes was generally settled on after a few months of trade data.

Honestly, the main reason I'm not in support of them is because:

1. The cakes aren't a very high demand item to anyone other than collectors. Despite this, it's still worth a lot all things considered. Can you imagine the worth of an item that actually had high demand like a plush? That would be an absolute nightmare

2. It honestly just makes item collecting harder, it's a cool idea in theory, but items are a lot more versatile than pets are. UR Pets have a lot of their appeal because they're incredible unique in comparison to other pets, like foods, unique linearts, and a higher attention to detail. (Ignoring the obvious, being the exclusivity and rarity). Items have always been able to be anything and everything, with varying levels of detail. So I just really can't see any reason to add in URs other than to throw a curveball at collectors and give others a chance for more rare fodder

Despite this, I am absolutely still in favor of adding items into the advent event as something you can get re-releases of. It's something that's never been explored before, and I had a great time with it last year! Maybe the RRs will bring about some new collectors or introduce some unique dressups that may not have been made otherwise! I'm looking forward to the item regardless of what staff decide on, and thank you for asking us for input!

This. A popular UR item is just asking for trouble, especially for collectors. I know that I'm struggling to complete my item collection because NO ONE HAS ANYTHING I'M LOOKING FOR, and if they do they're not trading it b/c they too are hunting for a complete collection! Or no one wants my rarer items in exchange because so many of them are so hard to move. That's why I think item re-releases in GENERAL are a great idea. Just NOT the UR Items on top of that.

And YES please, an easier way to find items in the archives is sorely needed. As is a way for trades with them to auto-cancel like pet trades do.

Ruruskadoo wrote:
Celozon wrote:Though I've also seen a suggestion for pet pages just link to their location the archives and that would also solve that issue and wouldn't need to only apply to re-releases.

That would be amazing, it would solve so many problems! Normally unless I recognize a particular pet I have to go searching through the archives each year to identify the original release date of my rereleases, so a direct link to its place in the archives would save a lot of time.

Please, this would be SUCH a good quality of life change if implemented. I 100% agree with this idea!

AlexBlu wrote:-snip-
For both pets and items, there are a lot of changes that need to be made to protect players from being taken advantage of. It's already way too easy for a scam out of a Dec 18 RR pet. Items will be much worse.

2. UR pet should be immediately labeled as UR (if they already are, disregard. I can't remember if they are) -snip-

This is also a really good change that I think needs to be implemented. Just show the new UR's rarity at birth. It'll make people far less likely to be scammed into trading them for peanuts.

Dreamfall wrote:I personally don’t like the idea.
The focus on this site is and always has been collecting pets, with items being just an add on to those said pets. There are some reeaaaally awesome and cool ones and it‘s already hard enough to trade for them without them being ur. I dunno, I personally don’t want the extra stress of trying to collect them, ESPECIALLY not if they are going to be extra awesome so I feel the need to have them. If that makes any sense xD
Just my point of view, I also understand why some people (well, a lot obviously) like the idea.

I second this as an avid item collector. With monthly store items being temporary now, we already have a rare item series of sorts through them so I think the UR would make it insanely hard to get to the point of not even trying. Y’all could do a holiday gift bag at the end of the year for unreleased items at the store for a limited time at free or a discount which could use those unused models as well as provide a designated space for unlabeled or non set random items

Idk I just agree with all of this. I REALLY love the suggestion of putting all the "unused" items in a store bundle (either free to about to be bought w/c$) into the item store at the end of the year.

- - -

I also want to address this comment in particular:
Kabuski wrote:I think it's interesting that the conversation is hyper-focused on whether or not items can be traded or it's hard to determine their value. I feel like as with any item, they are fun to collect, and this is just another version of getting new items to collect. Not a ton of people try to get full collections of pets/items, so, with however many get released it would be a fun new thing that's interesting to collect for said collectors. I can see why people want rarity tags on items, but the game's only purpose isn't just for trading. Trading has always been weird and inconsistent anyway. So I don't see why rarity tags would help anyway. I like the idea of UR items. Just more items to collect!

Yes, trading has always been weird and inconsistent. That's why people build things like the Lists and Item Worth Threads and other stuff to try and get some sense of what things are going for...trading is a HUGE part of the site; items being tradable is literally one of the core features of the website? It's not the sites ONLY purpose, but it's baked into it. Of course people will want to get the most of their trades. Some people don't care if they have a full collection it's true, but making sure they get something they want that's worth what their items/pets are worth seems reasonable to me?

Also making it more "interesting to collect for said collectors" can be a double-edged blade. Many items are already so incredibly difficult to find, especially limited store sets. And again...they have to TRADE FOR THESE ITEMS. So knowing worths/values/rarity would be infinitely helpful to collectors in order to achieve their goals.
