One of the Equi linearts are traced over perfectly. There can be serious copyright issues if the photographer of that image decides to bring up the matter. I think avoiding getting into trouble with the law is more important than keeping the nostalgic feel of the site.

I think that, whether equi actually traced the lines or not, they do look like they have been traced, and , if copyright gets involved then chicken smoothie could get shut down. So, I think that the linearts should be changed, but they have both equi and yul's tag on it.

Also, if we get some artwork done of some of equi's pets (such as fliped) will those linearts have to be changed too?

Art theft no matter the magnitude is always (or should always be) frowned upon, and just because she was an official artist, or because some of us may like her horses more shouldn't excuse this.

I'm sure if this never came to past, plenty of new members would find out about this one day, and when seeing Equi's linearts still present, I don't think they'll be too happy.

Going a bit along with this but in the other way, just because you change something does not make it go away in the past. I am one for things to stay how they are now as it shows how much CS has grown and changed over the years. If you are putting it this way it is like we are trying to hide it in a since when we can prove nothing was done wrong. There are only so many ways a horses can stand or lay and if you look hard enough I am sure you can find or make pictures that look like all the different lines. But I did not really make this post to bring up the old lines but to keep them. It's part of how CS has grown and changing them to make everything the same just does not seem right, it would seem like CS has changed. When we are voting here we are voting not just for our own pets but everyone elses too. I understand that have three is a bit much and they want to try and make everything the same, but thats just it the difference shows the growth of the sight and how much the lines and the works of others has changed us. Yes I understand that the design is the same and all, but it still does not look like the same horse. The theeme is the same but if you look at the design it is not and it can not be as they where made by others. Sorry for the rant by the way, I just kind of feel strong about keeping the old lines.

Getting rid of Equi's lineart isn't trying to hide anything, it'd just show that CS isn't going to tolerate art theft - no matter whether you're a member, mod or official artist.

And about "There are only so many ways a horses can stand or lay and if you look hard enough I am sure you can find or make pictures that look like all the different lines."

Yes, if I drew a wolf for example, there's going to be a photograph somewhere, no matter how well known or how well it is quality wise, but the issue is that not only are the poses exactly the same on most of her linearts, but they line up exactly as well in quite a few places (and with the draft and foal linearts, pretty much spot on for the entire lineart). If she just referenced it, or accidentally did a pose like one in a photograph, yes it'll look similar at first, but when overlaying them the differences would be more apparent. As others have said as well, there are other more suttle things as well that kind of hint towards tracing.

There's a fair amount of sense in that argument, but to counter it, just because you could find evidence if you spent enough time on the internet, does the fact that equimagine admitted to at least some level of wrongdoing (whether she meant to take the lines or not is irrelevant) mean nothing? No one is trying to put equimagine on trial for what she did, but it is still a valid reason (and not the only one) for wanting the lines updated. And it's not fair to run through the internet looking for examples that could make it look like the new linearts were copied because Yulynh is not on trial here either, and her lines have never had a mark of suspicion against them.

I really hope that the older horses do get switched over to the newer lineart.
I personally didn't like the older lineart much, and the designs that have been put on Yulynh's lines look really really good <3

Just a reminder that if CS was in immediate danger of getting shut down from this that there wouldn't be a poll.
Also that the obviously traced ones aren't the adult lines.

Most of the new horses will be meaningless to me. With the old line arts, they have character. With the newness, they're just more horses that sit in my horse group never seeing the light of day.
No longer active. Sorry. :\

Honestly it's been years. The photographer hasn't brought it up from what I've heard so why would he or she now? And maybe, just maybe we have to live with our mistakes. It's ridiculous to take away other users pets or alter them because of your mistake. You all can spew what ever you want about a "Fresh start" or whatever. But covering up what you did wrong is the opposite of a "fresh start." Starting new is exactly what CS has done in the past years by adding new line arts, releasing those, and dealing with there past problems. Not this. >.>

It's wrong for CS to alter pets users have worked hard to collect.

That would be nice, but it would make equine horses less special.
