Why don’t we have a tag on rereleased pets similar to the pps or gen 2+ tags? It could say “09 rerelease” or something of that nature. I feel like that would cut out a lot of scams since users will know it’s not a regular monthly pet at a glance. Put it on the item rerelease too.
no thanks, there should be no difference between the rereleased pet and a true date pet except for the dates. doing this would force a huge divide and there already was one between people who value only true dates as it is
Honestly, I don't think it would matter all that much either way if demand shot up or dropped a bit for the rereleases if they got some kind of mark denoting that they're rereleases, since a fair number of people already value the true dates more, because one of the main reasons they do so won't change: you can't choose how the pets in your groups are sorted, you're forced to sort them by date, and for organizational reasons many people would prefer to have pets that were from the same litter/month together instead of sporadically sprinkled in.
A significant amount of the demand divide would vanish if people could choose to sort pets within groups manually or by original litter/release date, but that's a whole other discussion. For the time being I don't see that particular problem going away, so I don't think adding a mark or text to indicate they're rereleased would make all that much of a difference in the grand scheme of things.

This site is amazing, but some of the old ways of navigating are outdated with the sheer amount of pets and items we have now. Rarities. Please. I can’t faithfully support UR items without an established rarity. Item trading is bleak as it is many users downright refusing to trade items at all for being confusing. We desperately need a rework on the item system.
Just to clarify, adding 'rerelease' text on the pet image itself wouldn't be possible (at least not without needing to re-haul how the archives + pet categorizing works), the way pet images work is that changing the pet's image would change /all/ of that pet, including the original releases, it wouldn't be possible just to change the re-release ones. I imagine changing just the rarity tag would be similarly difficult. The only time a pet could be given its own image or tag is because its considered a separate pet in the archives, like there is a 'glitched sunjewel' that has a slightly different image from the regular sunjewel, and if you own it, the archives doesn't recognize that you own a sunjewel because its listed as a different pet (If I'm remembering correctly it later got updated to be categorized as a custom).
I do agree it can be hard to figure out if a pet is actually a re-release sometimes, but I'm not sure if there would be any easy way to add a disclaimer to those pets. Maybe it would be possible to have something that checked for the Dec 18th date on a pet and if a pet has that date it adds some text to the pet page explaining what re-releases are. Though I've also seen a suggestion for pet pages just link to their location the archives and that would also solve that issue and wouldn't need to only apply to re-releases. I'd really suggest heading over the suggestions board though if you do want to suggest something new as its difficult for us to track suggestions in threads like this (especially since posts in the announcements board don't show up in search results).

That would be amazing, it would solve so many problems! Normally unless I recognize a particular pet I have to go searching through the archives each year to identify the original release date of my rereleases, so a direct link to its place in the archives would save a lot of time.

What if it was similar to how pps are explained on the pet page? “this pet is a rereleased pet” and you can click the link for an in depth explanation. Surely that’s doable?

As said, there would need to be something in place for the system to recognize re-releases as different from original releases, which there isn't right now. PPS pets can just be tagged as 'pps' in the system and it applies to all of that pet, trying to tag a pet as 'rerelease' would tag original releases too since they are literally the same in the system. To clarify, a PPS and a 'still growing' that use the same image (besides one saying PPS) are still listed as separate pets in the archives, re-releases are not listed as separate pets in the archives or else having a re-release of a pet would not check off that pet as 'owned' in the archives. So its easy to just tag certain pets as PPS and it only apply to the PPS pets because they have a separate listing in the archives.
Unfortunately I don't know enough about how it works to know how doable it would be to get them recognized as separate, I just know as it is right now it can't tell the difference between re-release and original release so there is no easy way for us to add text to only the re-released pets.

i'd love to see them again i think it should be similar to the whole december the 18th kind of trend where each year you normally make a few new UR pets for users to adopt that they cant get any other way (outside of trading) the idea of a item box that may contain a UR item you cant get anywhere else which is unique in its own way sounds like a nice little idea for the people who enjoy collecting meaningful rare items on CS
I make many free OC adopts and breedings feel free to follow me to check them out

Kalid wrote:The additional chance of lucking out and getting a high demand item is nice, but being able to trade older or high vaue items is never a guarantee. Not only do some people not value items at all, there are now 2 decades of free releases vs limited store sets to keep track of. (Side note: a way to find an items release year in the My Items listing would be FANTASTIC. Much easier than opening a 50 tabs trying to find a specific object.)
The chance to get a new valuable thing is appealing, but in general, i find the unstable rarities of URs extremely frustrating. Items will be even worse to manage, as item values swing wildly based on the user. Overall, i would prefer no new UR items, just the rereleased item adopts.
Wookieinmashoo wrote:I've been watching the thread and I really hope a middle ground will be taken. I think the re-release already services what people want: people trading rare items. I do not think we need more at all. I collect items and there's already enough very hard to get items that UR items are unnecessary.
The middle ground I am hoping will happen is that we get ONE UR item and it's something simple like the cakes. The vas majority of UR pets are simple, please keep UR items simple. Items are for using on pets I want to have more copies of items to use, not less. If items get a rarity system, people need to keep in mind it won't be equivalent to pets because of the extremes on both ends they have.
Hugely agree with both of these
