lol, nice example of mlp[I laughed when I read it] I thought they did that to become more popular, it shows how much people really like the show.

I am officially heartbroken. :( I loved the original pony lineart and i collected them because of how special they were. I only had one pony "litter" and that VR PPS left before I had all the old linearts.... I really don't like the new pony lines so I am horribly sad right now... Ugh.... My ponies </3

:( I didn't even get a screenshot of my 09's before they changed... I only have a pic saved of 5 of them. -.-

The art theft happened over two years ago; if I was the photographer, I would NOT be happy about my artwork being used this way and only hearing about it years after the matter. This is ridiculous, what happened was ART THEFT. And it quite frankly NEEDED to be corrected because it's against CS's own rules to use others' art in this way.

It was unfair to the photographers, so now it's getting changed. They're just pixel ponies on a website, everyone needs to get over it.

My dearest friend,
if you dont mind...
Id like to join you
by your side.
Where we can gaze
into the stars...
and sit together,
now and forever.
For its plain,
as anyone can see,
we're simply
meant to be.♡

I think this response is a bit extreme. Get over it is quite rude to say particularly to someone just expressing their sadness. Please take it a lil easier on people. Not everyone has been on the threads this whole time to hear all that is going on.

As a photographer I really resent that comment. Way out of line.

I'm a photographer myself, but I don't think you should stack 'claims' on a natural pose of an animal. /:
Yes, someone took their time to take the photo, but I'm not saying what they did (the tracer) wasn't wrong; the reactions to it were way to overboard in my opinion. That's all I meant, not that it was alright to be done.

For what it's worth, and I say this as a professional artist, I'd be happy if I was approached and asked. If I don't want to give consent, I'd have that option. If I like all the extra exposure that a well known site like CS would give my original work if they accredited the original image, I'd have that option too. It's no more rude or more polite than quietly changing it. Except that by quietly changing it the original artist still has no idea a derivative of their work was used and profited from.

Either way, I am glad that CS is doing something about it. I just questioned whether that was the only possible course of action. Because I loves them old ponies. I just turned down a 2009 VR pony trade because I know the art is going to change and I won't like it when it happens. T.T

Photography is a form of art in and of itself - and this is coming from someone who is neither artist nor photographer. Another artist taking advantage of someone else's work is inappropriate to the same degree regardless of whether that work is something drawn or photographed.
Personally I'm glad that the admins are doing something about it, as I actually discovered a similar problem on another game I play and the admins tried to deny it and cover it up when I tried to make it public. I ended up having to track down the one with legal rights to the photo and sent them an email. Not long after the art was replaced, so clearly they did not have permission to use the photo. Sadly that artist still works for that game, though I now check every new lineart that is released to the best of my ability and have a few friends who do the same. :?

We are the music-makers and we are the dreamers of dreams,
wandering by lone sea-breakers and sitting by desolate streams.
World-losers and world-forsakers, upon whom the pale moon gleams;
yet we are the movers and shakers of the world forever, it seems.
