I know that the topic of the store items and such made for the old designs was touched on in the other discussion thread (I searched for the subject both here and on that thread), but what I want to know is if they will be updated as well. Especially the black cat costume. I know that costume was removed because there wasn't much interest, but I did pay for it and I had it on one of my ponies. Now it does not fit. I'm a little bummed out about it.

I'm a little bummed about the whole affair. I understand all the reasons and I do like Yulynh's lineart, but some of the designs don't seem to be transferring well in my opinion. I haven't been on the forums in late months (I usually only visit when there is an event) so I didn't even get to vote on the matter.

However, back to my original concern, if anyone can let me know what's up I would really appreciate it. Thank you.

Tess posted about the black cat costume specifically and said it would be updated. :3 Search doesn't work on Global Announcements, so if you tried using the forum search or people's post history to look for posts on the cat costume it wouldn't have shown up.

Actually, as it turns out, the vote was a moot point because it all came down to being a legal issue and to save the integrity of the site the old lines had to go. If the change was not done there was a risk that Tess could be notified to remove them in 24 hours time and just imagine the horror if you had come online and instead of the pony being changed it was just gone with no warning.

In truth, only those who never liked the old lines to begin with are thrilled with what is going on, the rest are sad or kicking and fighting the whole way or trying to put a good face on it as they accept what is happening since they really have no choice.

(edit- I am 40% sad, 50% putting on a good face and 10% kicking and screaming, lol)

That's probably why they didn't post it on the front page. It was going to happen either way; the vote was just a show to try and soften the blow for the inevitable backlash by some users.

The Zebras?
Since the zebras are on a modified version of equimagine ponies, and the ponies are copied from a photograph, unfortunately these are destined to be replaced as well. We will make a whole new lineart for the zebras (not a modified pony). We'll put up an announcement when the zebra lines have been completed so you can see (and make trade decisions) before they get changed. I wouldn't expect the change will cause any loss or gain in demand - since the extreme rarity is one of the main reasons the zebras are so highly sought after, and the rarity won't change.

Would have been nice to actually have voted on this, but I never saw it or was made aware of it. I don't scour the forums every day for news. You should have posted it on the front page.

The voting was on the "Global Announcements" section, which is on the top for all the fourms. There's no need to even search for it really. Just look at the top section of whatever fourm tpoic you're at [roleplaying, fourm games, etc.] and it's literally right there. Not every single news should be posted on the front page, even retirements aren't on the front page most of the time, if at all. So something like this would be posted on the fourms instead of the front page, so people can actually reply to it.

It was a vote. Kind of important if you want EVERYONE to vote and, you know, get a good representation of what the site as a whole wants. Some people don't go on the forums at all. I didn't for a long time when I first came here. I check my "view bookmarks" tab when posting in the forums, so I don't see the general forum most days anyway.

If what you're saying is right, then they shouldn't have posted "Have you been keeping up with the latest forum announcements?" as news on the front page either. it came off sounding like "Hey, you didn't read the forums, so now you're out of luck on casting your vote!"

View bookmarks page is only for the fourm threads that you bookmark. If you want to see the threads you have posted on, click on "My Posts" [though you probably already know this by now, lol]. I roleplay a lot, so I go to the roleplay fourms. Don't immediately go to a thread, or you won't be able to see the announcement threads. I haven't voted because I'm on vacation, therefor I didn't know about it because I've been stuck in a car for over 12 hours and then having to unpack and settle down into the condo, yada yada. Some people were in the same situation as me, where they couldn't get on because of traveling, but I don't see everyone who didn't get to vote complaining. I'm not complaining about not voting at all, because it's already done and it's not my problem.

Yes, I do realize that not everyone goes on the fourms everyday, I didn't get on much either when I first started out in 2009. Aproxamently 75% or more users go to the fourms at least once a day. If you couldn't find the vote thread, how'd you find this one? Not trying to sound rude or anything, which tends to send the wrong message sometimes. I'm just asking...."How can you not find the voting thread, but find this one, then start complaining about how you didn't get to vote, and how you hate the change?" The old lineart was breaking CS rules, they have to change it, even if the "NO!" vote won.

If you don't go to the fourms very often, that's not my problem.

I can understand wanting everything to be nice and unique. However, shouldn't the different designs make them unique enough? I mean, so far, I've liked the re-designed ponies more than most of the new ones. Their designs are just so nice, that's what makes them special? Some of them do have little edits here and there. Just because they don't have 'speshul' lines doesn't mean they're not special in their own way.


Most people don't go around hating on identical twins because they look the same. They may look pretty much the same, but it doesn't mean they're not both unique and different in their own ways. Everything's special in its' own way, unless you take that away from it.

If they were instead deciding to move the Warrior Cats designs to the new cat lines because the term "Warrior Cat" could cause the site trouble there are many that would have issues with it and be upset because they love those cats... it is the same thing for us. We loved the unique poses and the individuality that the line art gave them... that it took less than a glance to know they were different.

The warrior cats weren't stolen lines however, nor were they too accurately representing them. (Minus the 'Brightheart' and 'Scourge' ones, which I'm honestly surprised they didn't get rid of long ago).

They would have issues, but they would have to deal with it. Things change. I would hate the change, but if it has to happen, it has to happen. No reason to complain.

Some of them will be getting unique poses as Tess said, so I find it to be a win-win for both sides, really. Everyone still gets to have some special horses, while still having everything look nice~ It's as close as they can get in a realistic standpoint, at least.

^ Also, I don't think you can speak for the whole group of people that liked Equi's lines.. I've seen quiet a few people that loved them yet are thrilled with the change.
