But with all this Tracing problem, you only need to go onto dA to find stock images, where people have either used that exact image in their art, or done a perfect copy of it. Where's the proof that Equimagine was never allowed to do this, either?

Digging through my pets to compare if lineart changes and found this

Image
Adopt virtual pets at Chicken Smoothie!

One of my favorite pets on CS. I personally, have admired equi. designs and decided to hoard the draft horses. Even through all this, I still support the idea of change.

Also found a pps that is kicking out backwards. Just wondering what will happen to it. Not everyone gets to have the equi. horses but that doesn't mean they suddenly changed from hatred to love

It's a little late for that. Their art has been used illegally for two years. Firstly, they have grounds to sue CS already if they really wanted. Secondly, that would be incredibly disrespectful.

They are under no obligation to give permission, and honestly, in their place, I certainly wouldnt.

I know I would feel the same way if someone appropriated something from my writing, and then someone else from their project/website emailed me and said, "Hey! We didn't realize X used your characters, but is it okay if we keep making stories about them?" I would be very upset. It isn't just a pretty picture to an artist (photographers and writers included) - it's their passion, their expression, and their expense of time, equipment, and often years of developing craft/technique.

There's also the profit to think about...CS earns money from the store. While the linearts may not have been sold at any point, the photographer might not realize that and think CS is profiting from their artwork, which is even worse than using the artwork without profit and much more likely to make them take or threaten legal action.

Erm, like our mods have mentioned guys, let's stay on topic with the linearts! Only a yes or no will suffice. ;u;

Honestly though I think it's not an option to go to the photographer and ask if we could use the pose etc, for one I doubt a professional would really care what goes on in a children's adoptables website (lol i could have worded that better but hey it's true ;3; ) and in any case, it is only ethical / in good etiquette of any artist to always present original work

I'm not saying anything against anyone, I just wanted to mention the above >3<
when first i appear i seem mysterious
but when explained i'm nothing serious

They care when the site is earning money.

Also by this logic, why aren't people allowed to find RP images on google?

This would mean that zebras will change to the Yulynh pony lineart as well!

No, the zebras are separate because they're a separate species. :3 The same goes for the donkeys and unicorns, which will be getting their own lines. If/when the zebras get updated it would most likely be to species-specific lines, not the pony lines, and Tess has said any potential change with them would be presented for voting in a separate poll, not this one.

Link to comparison images.

This. Its less about how they look, and more aboit the fact that they're traced- having traced lineart leaves a bad taste in the mouth of ANY artist.

Well, I spent some time reading the thread, and saw the lines compared to the pictures. Because of that, I changed my vote to a "yes." The change to the new lineart will be good for CS, and help promote it as a site for unique pets that maintains a high standard for artist integrity and against art theft. I will miss the PPS lineart though...

Am wondering though, if rarer horses/ponies, like the Rainbowmane could get a unique, new lineart, just to help them maintain their "specialness."
