You can say you're for the change due to them being traced, what the mods don't want are debates over whether or not they WERE traced, I think.

In the time it would take for artists to colour in the several hundred pets, they could easily create a few extra item linearts. It just seems like a complete waste of resources; if nothing else is going to change about the pets, why would you bother recreating them?

I'm sure that there's just as many items will have to be fitted as designs would have to be copied, and there's four or five Equimage linearts that have to be taken into account. And any new items will have to have a version for the old linearts, when instead we could just copy the designs to the new lines once and not have to worry about it again.

CS items are a pain to work with. I swear the lines are smaller than a 1 pixel brush. As someone who does both colouring and item linearts, I can tell you right now that I would find it waaaaaay easier to recolour the Equimage horses/ponies onto the new lines than to redraw the plethora of horse items for the various Equimage lines.

I actually plan to volunteer for the recolouring if we get the go ahead, because it sounds like such fun, and I'm in a bit of a design rut at the moment. I have difficulty drawing items and they take a crazy long time. Colouring for this update would be neat and I'm really looking forward to it if I get the chance. So don't worry too much about the artists. I'm sure I'm not the only one hoping for a spot on this project if it gets the go-ahead.

It's nice to hear that there are artists who, beyond being okay with the idea, are excited for it and would volunteer for it. :) If I had a shred of artistic talent I would, too. I love the old designs and I love the newer lineart, and I think the examples posted are about as spiffy as I could have ever imagined them to be! (I've often wished the old designs could be on the new lineart.)

The fact that you say more and more that she stole the lines, talks that everyone makes mistakes.

We are discussing whether or not the art should be updated.
Yes it's a discussion topic.

Yes, everyone makes mistakes. And you correct mistakes when you learn you've made them. She stole the lines, and instead ofsaying she just referenced them she needs to own up to that. And CS needs to realize they used stolen art, say sorry, and remove the offending pieces.

If we weren't intended to voice our opinions and discuss the matter, wouldn't they have just put up the poll and closed the topic to discussion?

The more I read this thread, the more I think that nobody knows what the intent was - whether she purposefully stole the lines or made a mistake.

I partly don't understand. Will the Equimagine lines just dissapear forever if this will happen? And the horse items that are for the shape of the old horse lineart will have to be changed too.

From what I understand the Equimagine line art will disappear and the old items will be remade into the current fit and style.

I thought the point of this thread was to generate discussion ont he topic, not to delete any post that disagrees with mod standing. I haven't broken any rules. So the fact that so many posts including my own are getting deleted because is kinda, well, disgusting.

Great to know I'm not allowed to discuss the topic in a discussion topic. Equimagine stole those lines and EVERYONE knows it. Defending her adoptables and saying we should keep them anyway is absolutely not okay because CS doesn't have the rights to them because EQUIMAGINE NEVER HAD THE RIGHTS TO SIGN AWAY because they were STOLEN.
And honestly, for a site that 'takes art theft seriously,' this is absolutely awful. You are not allowed to say users can't steal but staff can.

The fact Equimagine took these is completely relevant and I honestly don't even care if I get warned for talking about it because it. is. not. ok.

This shouldn't even be up for debate. CS is not allowed to use this work because they don't have permission from the photographers. There's nothing to discuss.

thank you

How do we know that the newer lines aren't traced? There's a BILLION trotting horse pictures, many of which could be identical. So how do we know that the new ones aren't traced? If you find the right pic, any art can be thought to be traced or copied.... Everyone keeps focusing on how the old ones were stolen, but no one has even mentioned the new ones..

I believe that it's been stated that there will be a few of Equi's pieces left - her designs, of course, will be credited to her, and the zebras [and possibly a few others?] may remain in the original lines.

There aren't too many items that still only fit the Equi horses - I think it's just the ghost costume and maybe a couple others - so they would be remade to fit the Yulynh lines.

I looked through these links, and though it was most strongly showed on the first link, there is some proof that Equi didn't trace. Or at least not for the adult horse/first link. The head, neck, mane, tail, and probably more things I forgot are different. So sorry if I broke a rule or was rude or upset someone, but in my opinion not all of Equi's lines should be changed.

Except no, that's not how it works.
First of all, you don't even need the original pics to be able to see that Equimagine's lines are traced. Her work exhibits no true understanding of stylism or perspective. When you've been drawing long enough, there are things you pick up subconsciously- and he work doesn't have those. The accuracy of the realism in her work is higher than the quality of her understanding of it- you can look at it and see, something is wrong.
Yllwn's are obviously, well, not traced. While more realistic, there are parts that are different from real horses. They just don't work like that- that's stylism. While you could argue that perhaps she stole them from another artist, I find that sincerely hard to believe because unlike Equimagine's plain designs, Yllwn's are detailed and executed beautifully. You have to have a real concept of art and design to be able to do what she does, so I sincerely doubt she stole them.

Also, I find it a little hypocrital that you're saying it doesn't matter that Equi stole her art because all art could be stolen so we shoudln't care.
