Re: Global Moderators - Now Hiring! READ BEFORE POSTING

Postby Yamanaka Shin » Thu Mar 10, 2011 2:48 pm

1. What date did you register as a CS member?: Feb 11, 2009. It's been over 2 years. Hard to believe.

2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 20683, which puts me in the top poster's list ^^ I'm really dedicated to CS.

3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yes, I am very willing. Nothing out there bothers me at this point. I've seen so many different levels of good at bad in my travels. And I am of the allowed age.

4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?: Every day, as often as possible. CS is my 2nd home.

5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Usually at least 3-5. More if possible.

6. Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them: No, but I have moderated on Xat Chats, even though they do not count.

7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? CS has been a site that I've spent countless hours on ever since joining. The first few months I was here were very rough. I was a newbie and a real moron. But I've since learned A LOT in my vast travels. I'm not an expert on all things CS-related, but I know quite a lot. Enough to get by any day of the week. The community, for the most part, is amazing. I love so many users here. My best friend came into my life from here, actually. I've made plenty of errors in judgment and in general through the years...but I've corrected them since then. CS has helped me grow as a person. I joined here as Rokubi and here I am as ~Vizard~. A lot of people here know me very well. I've dedicated a lot of my time to donating pets and items to both newbies and veterans. My old project, Project Hoolian Dream, helped a lot of people. Anyone who applied was aided in getting their dream pet. I'm not applying to be a Mod JUST to get a free custom, oh no. I'm doing it for the love of the site and the people on it. To report things that go against the rules, to aid people with questions, to get to know other Mods better, and to improve the experience for everyone here. I report as many things that break CS rules as possible, from art theft to stating personal info to anything else under the sun that's not allowed. CS is a lovely site that's flourished for nearly 3 years now. I want to see it continue for at least 3 more. I can't explain in words every reason why I want to be a Mod. Words don't do it justice.

8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?) I am a moderator on an FA (FurAffinity) group. I also observe the use of proper grammar & spelling as often as possible.

I have a quick question. On page 6, you said posting that you are honestly a little younger than 18 will just hurt your chances (a lot), but can we still apply if we don't mind? I added my form, but I will delete it if you want me to. I have no problem with that. Just wanted to try.

What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 8 months ago, do not apply) Mar 14, 2009
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply) 5109
Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: (If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the first post again) I'm not quite old enough, but I've seen mature content before and do not mind in the least.
How many days a week do you usually visit CS? 7
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? At least 5
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them: I'm an RP mod here but it is extremely inactive.
Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I enjoy helping other people and fixing problems. I love being on the site and doing something constructive. I think I would be able to help a lot.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?) I speak very basic spanish, and I have a good grasp on BBC code.

APPLICATON

What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 8 months ago, do not apply) Sun Nov 23, 2008
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply) 1722
Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: I am not the required age but i can handle adult content up to the highest of levels. I cannot name any names of the things but I'm hoping you'll get what i mean.
How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Everyday, well if I'm not banned from my parents for going on to much.
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? 3 or 4 at the most
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them Well i mini-modded my own RP, but its ended now.
Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? To live out my dream and become a CS staff member. Its not just that its also to keep the site safe and so it can be joined by all ages. I have realized that CS is growing by the day, which is very excellent. I used to be a newbie 3 years ago, haven't learnt any art skills, role playing skills, not much. But now i know how to do stamps, siggy maps and have learnt to role play not just a couple of words. I want to get others like that, get them into following the rules and make CS up in the top 10 websites of the world, well top 20 anyways.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?) I have been (still am) a librarian, it is voluntary but i don't mind a bit :D I have also a leadership role, i am very good at it also. I can speak a little Spanish also. I am no role playing expert but i love to use proper grammar and spelling.

Also, if someone else gets these positions, i will treat them as though they were me.Thank you Tess for holding this opportunity.

What date did you register as a CS member?: November 2, 2009
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 10488
Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Yup, old enough and not bothered at all. :]
How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Every day. xD Even if I don't end up posting, I like to come on a browse around to see what's up after my classes and house chores so remembering to come on wouldn't be a problem at all.
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? On average? About three on weekdays, four or so on weekend days. Most of it is staggered as I multitask doing classwork and such. I end up having it up for at about six or seven hours, actively checking for about ten minutes, in between work, every so often.
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them. I used to be a co-admin on an RP site which has since sadly died. I currently run theGoennec RP site for my species. :]
And I also mod/run a few of my own threads(as well as a few friends plus the agency) on CS.
Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? I see quite a bit of rule-breaking around the forums that I keep wishing I could just clean it up real quite rather than send a report since I've noticed the current moderators have been so busy. I also have a tendency to try to offer help where I can. xD I'd be quite happy to add the daily duties to my usual browsing.
I feel I'd be good for this job seeing as I have no problem making sure everything is neat, tidy, and orderly, nor do I mind answering questions and/or helping people solve issues.
The CS forums are the only forums (aside from my own sites and sites that I help run) wherein I've been constantly active for longer than one or two months. I've really enjoyed myself here and I'd love to give back to the community that made me feel so comfortable and willing to be so open. :3
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?) Part of my college major is actually learning mediation techniques so I'm sure that'd come in handy somewhere. xD Personality-wise, I'm a stickler for rules and retain important tidbits easily so I feel I'd never have much of a problem figuring what is and is not breaking a rule on spot.

Edited for grammar. xP
And again for a little more info. :]

1. What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 8 months ago, do not apply)
January 30, 2009.
2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)
13,606
3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: (If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the first post again)
I am both old enough and have no quarrel with seeing adult content when screening posts.
4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
7 days a week.
5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
This is hard to determine, as I tend to do things out of the computer doing things around the house, but 4 to 5 hours.
6. Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
Goennec RP
7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
I think it would be a pleasant experience to work as a moderator for CS, as well as an interesting challenge. I am a person that likes keeping things tidy and in order, so I could very much help with the moderating of the site in keeping the spam out, or rather I hope I would be of help on this. Lastly, I also have no problem with answering questions or being PMed questions on how to do certain things on the site, which I am certain would be a big part of the job.
8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)
I speak Spanish as a first language, English as a second, so this would hopefully be somewhat useful do my job correctly. As for peer mediation, I am not certain if this would count, but I do have people skills, mostly in being the sous chef in seminars where I have to maintain order and make certain none of the students cut themselves or do anything hurt themselves or others, as well as having been in charge of certain areas in a banquet or wedding buffets, which involves having communication with both others working with me as well as the customers or guests.

For anyone wondering things like "I don't quite meet this... I'm just short a few of that... can I still apply?"

Put it this way; if you don't meet the minimum criteria for such things then you're going to have difficulty competing against the applicants who do. We will prefer the applicants who are mature, post regularly in the forum, have been a member for a decent length of time, and have proven that they can play happily without breaking rules or earning warnings. If you're not one of those people, it'll be much harder to convince us that you can do the job well.

I notice you mention the word prefer. Does that mean I'd still be able to apply, just my chances are quite largely lower than users who fill the criteria? Just a question, if you'd prefer me not to apply, I'd be sad but I understand c:
[though, I understand that if you let me apply, there would be a good chance I wouldn't get the position]

No, you don't meet the criteria

I assume that, while a person who is just barely short in one area might have a chance if they meet or exceed all the other requirements, people who are significantly short on one or more of the requirements will have little to no chance of success, so there is little point in them applying. ;3

What would you think of someone being the age of 15 and turning 16 in a couple of months? I have owned my own website before, so I have had some experience with moderation and things like that.

Please PM me, since I may miss the post, but I can always look a little later :)
