I believe that if you tried out for more than one spot now, you will only get one, (say you got GH) but later on, if you continue to apply, and get into another spot, you will be "promoted" (Say to Global Mod) and you will no longer be the GH, but instead a Global Mod

It's not guaranteed that you will be promoted to another position later on if you become a General Helper. General Helpers must apply for positions just like anyone else. If a GH happens to be promoted, they will still be in the GH group as they take on new roles.

I have a question, when I first joined in 2012, I was coopad protected for some reason. Right now I'm in my twenties and obviosly I wasn't 13 like three years ago.
Does that affect my chances for the moderator positions?

It shouldn't affect your chances as it's very minor.
