Hi there! This is my nifty guide on how I value my pets! I've noticed recently that I tell people I value my pets a bit differently (and have been sent angry messages because of it) so here I am explaining my values and how I trade! Here is a long explanation
on how I value years and how
I trade up and down.

Here's how I trade rares:
2008 Rare = 2009 Rare + 2010 Rare
2009 Rare = 2010 Rare + 2011 Rare
2010 Rare = 2x 2011 Rare
2011 Rare = 2x 2012 Rare
And so on up to current date

Uncommons to rares:
4 UCs for one rare of the same year OR
2009 UC = 2011 Rare
2010 UC = 2012 Rare
And so on up to current date

Uncommons are much less tricky. Offering two of a new year will get you an older year.
2009 UC = 2x 2010 UC
2010 UC = 2x 2011 UC
And so on up to current date

To trade rares and uncommons of the same year I use these two rules.
2008-2014 I use the 3 month rule for swaps.
2015-Present I use the 1 year rule for swaps.
3 Month Rule - Any pet (and I use species as well) within 3 months of each other and of the same rarity is a fair swap.
1 Year Rule - Any pet (and I use species as well) within 1 year of each other and of the same rarity is a fair swap.

To trade commons and below I follow the 1 year rule listed above.
Outside of that, I use the 2x method.

Date Swaps are a very popular piece of trading that I've noticed ever since I joined the site. You will always hear users saying that a true date and a rerelease date are equivalent. In rarity, yes they are but one has a special quality and that is that it has a date from when it was originally released. I value true dates higher than rereleases. I usually ask for a bit extra when someone wants to trade for my true date even if it is not a swap. I will also offer a bit extra when I am trading for a true date.

The "Rares" List is a trading
guide that is used by most
users but here is how I use it!

I use the Rares List as it was intended to be used: as a guide. The Gaps list definitely makes things easier if you use the Rares List as a guide.
Here's an example:
The gap between the Green Toxic and Nonballoon is Blue Rose. Using this information, I will take anywhere from the Dark Leopard to the Cake Dog tier to cover the gap between these two pets. I usually will allow for 2-3 tiers above or below to determine how fair a gap is.

Another note is that the advent list is for mixed 09 rares. This means all dates, and all species. It does not need to be all early 09 rare dogs.

Note: I do not like quantity trades at all. I will never trade more than 3 of my list pets for one of yours. I don't like taking quantity either but I will consider such trades sent to me.

title for now!

After doing some reading and discussions, there are a few things about store pets I use:

1. 2011 store pets are all worth lists. Below that can still receive 09 rare offers.
2. I prefer store pets for store pets and I don't like straight swaps. (Ie, sorbet for marionette)
3. Tess doesn't view store pets as apart of a complete collection.
4. Demand is insane.
5. I am super picky about offers and likely will only consider wishlist store pets for my 2010/2011 wishlist pets.

I am an item collector and an
item hoarder. I love my items
more than most of my pets.

Here's a quick set of guidelines when offering on my items.
1. I will only trade scenery for massive overpay. I'm talking massive.
2. I only like trading a few at a time. I will rarely ever trade more than 20 at a time.
3. If it's retired from the store, I will not trade it. Not even swaps.
4. If I only have one, it's not for trade.
5. I am even more picky with my items than I am with my store pets but overpay will almost always sway me as long as you're not asking for one of my specific item hoards.
