Hello to my Santa!

I came back to cs almost exactly a year ago (yes dec 18th tempted me) with intent to fully clear out my account & quit, but the userbase is full of so many lovely people i ended up staying. This event is just another example of hoe nice the cs community is, and any gift from this will be greatly appreciated. Please don't stress yourself out too much with the higher value pets on my wl as most of them (i.e store pets, warrior cats ect) are on there for convenience not because i am actively seeking them. My ultimate goal is to have a full pps collection (46 left to go!!!) but most left to get now are high value so i am not expecting any. I am also collecting all hamsters & old lineart gineapigs (all missing ones on wl).

Please read! A quick guide to my wl
I have a lot of pets on my wl for easy reference for art trades that i am not actively looking for
If it is; a pps pet, a hamster/ginea pig, any other below rare pet I would love to receive it
If it is; a non pps store pet, a warrior cat, adult malk dragon ect, i would still appreciate these pets so i can trade them, but not needed for a collection (are on wl to make art trades easier)

Story:

It was getting late and Harriet still hadn’t managed to find the main piece of her costume. You see she wanted to go as a pumpkin this year, using a real pumpkin as the costume, but there just does not seem to be one small enough for her. Three pumpkins sit carved outside the front door, each just a bit too big for Harriet to be able to wear. At least her little brother had fun adding faces and candles to each one, so they cast a cheerful glow onto the front step.

Getting more frantic, Harriet combs through the house for anything that at least resembles a pumpkin. Looking upstairs in the attic turns up nothing, the dress-up basket is even less help, not even a potato in the fridge! But the fruit bowl? Hmmm… that might just actually work.

With a quick glance to the clock, Harriet realises she only has half an hour before she is due to meet her friends. ‘ok, I need to be quick about this’ she says to herself as she gets to work carefully carving out the centre.

‘Yes! I fit, I actually fit’ a quick moment of celebration before Harriet takes out the orange paint to put the final touches on her costume. She finishes just intime to dash out the door, shouting a quick goodbye to her parents, and heads off down the street.

Her friends are waiting just up ahead under a streetlamp. Elsje smiles as Harriet approaches, beckoning her to hurry up so they can get started.
‘Is that a peach?’ asks Anton with a raised eyebrow
‘no, I am dressed as a pumpkin. I painted it orange see?’
‘well I like the creativity’ chimes in Elsje ‘come on, lets get started on trick or treating’

The three friends smile at each other and start walking to the nearest house to start their evening. Pushing open the squeaky gate and making their way up the overgrown path. Harriet approaches the door, and knocks and exclaims ‘Trick or Treat!’

Story:

There are many famous fantasy creatures, from the powerful dragon, to the regal pegasus, and even the monstrous old shuck. But none of these are Oak’s favourite fantasy creature. To most people’s surprise his favourite is not even a jackalope! Oaks favourite mythical beast is a wolpertinger, with the protectiveness of antlers, the freedom of wings and the undeniable awesomeness of a bunny.

When it came time to choose a costume for this years trick-or-treating he had absolutely no hesitation in choosing to dress as a wolpertinger. On halloween Oak made sure to get prepared as efficiently as possible, so that he could dash out of the house the moment the moon began to rise. The street before him had been transformed from a dull residential road to an eerie path lit by glowing lanterns. Enticed by promises of treats for those who dare to approach the decorated doors. Soon his bag was overflowing with goodies, and a joyous grin had made itself home on his face.

He bounded down the path, with each leap the wings would flare out slightly, almost as if they could actually flap. With a bright laugh Oak lept high into the air, trying to get as close as he can to feeling like he is actually flying. This night could not get any better, and as the night wore on and Oak kept bouncing around he began to tire. So he decided to lay down for a short rest just on the edge of a dark forest. Surely nothing would happen right?

Slowly blinking the sleep out of his eyes, Oak could not quite recognise the street. It definitely looked similar, the houses were in the same places, and the moon still hung high above. But everything else was unfamiliar, the houses were decorated different, the costumes looked more realistic, and somehow the night seemed darker. Just as he was getting up to try and find some answers, Oak looked down at his treat bag. He stared in a moment in horror, not quite able to believe his eyes. Someone stole his sweets! Someone must have snuck up whilst he was asleep, he could even see a slight trail of dropped stolen sweets.

Oak no longer has any time to waste worrying about the unfamiliar location, he had to re-build his halloween treat bag. With determination he marched up to the most enticing door, a deep breath in, a firm knock, and Oak lets out a call of “Trick or Treat!”

i really want to get more confident at drawing humanoids but dont have motivation to draw my own characters, so anyone interested in some free art?

thoughts now: sorry but i am about to spam you with messages so that if needed we can reply to each idea in turn and keep everything organised

clues i am still unclear on: the cypher how / why will this be done & why do we need a book plus the mirror to solve it?
where to put the axe on the wall? just an fancy little slot ect?

dragon scales, could make them different shapes or colours but that might make it too easy to solve without the book

if they set up the chess pieces technically in the real world they could set it up in a way where the queens gambit is never needed, but because this will be via set images we can sandbox them and you say "you set up the pieces in this manner"

do we want to add a door to the background to open when solved? or make sort of a title screen version of a congrats message? for me swinging open an entire section of wall is too much with all the items that will be on there but a plain door or just open passageway is perfectly fine (just don't want to draw many items at a slight angle)

adding the mirror as a clue technically makes the mirror dimension book not a complete red herring (no issues with that just good to note)

because we are doing this online we have freedom to use other online tools, so two ideas: can you set up an online chess game and get to the starting point of the queens gambit then send them the link to play the game with you to see how they solve the chess game, partially this idea is also because i don't think i can draw every possibility of move for the chess game, or maybe we don't need that you can just go through it verbally with them

idea two, if they have a program where they can organise / reorder images we could do a image torn into shreds that you send the individual files of each torn segment, then they go away and solve it on their side, send back the completed image, then you can send the reverse side of the solved image with a clue on it (but then also this is late to be adding another clue, I cant think of any particular gaps the need filling)
