Personality:
Reclusive: Saira doesn’t spend a lot of time with others. She prefers to just travel with her animals. When she does have to go to the town, she spends very little time socializing. Her main priority is getting what she needs and getting out again as quick as possible. Of course she doesn’t mind stopping to chat with old friends every once in a while, if she just happens to see them. She is very wary around people she doesn’t know, but can warm up pretty easily.
Intelligent: One of the main reasons Saira goes to town is to check out more books from the library. She spends at least an hour or two every day reading, always new books and most of the time non-fiction. Saira loves to read, to learn how the world works. Her favorite books are about nature. The stars, animals, plants, it is all interesting to her. Books that she especially likes or are useful, like a book about different uses of herbs, she buys and keeps in a bookshelf inside her home. She is fully literate, having had mandatory schooling until she was 13 and then teaching herself from books.
Dangerous: Having been on her own since she was 13, Saira has learned to take care of herself. She is a great shot with a bow and throwing knives, and very good at hand-to-hand or knife fighting. It isn’t just a hobby she picked up randomly, she prefers to hunt in the Kanon Forests for food rather than pay lots of money in town for it.
Caring: Saira hates to see animals hurt. Anyone who abuses animals is the lowest sort of scum, in her eyes. Two of her horses were rescued from abusive owners, Phoenix and his sister Flaria. Anytime she goes hunting, she makes sure to make the kills clean and painless, and never hunts for sport. Saira helps any hurt animals she sees; rescues them, heals them, and then sets them free again once they are back to full health.
Dreamy: Saira spends lots of time just wandering around and thinking. Wandering through forests, fields, the town, anywhere. She tends to space out from time to time, and most of the time it is up to her animals to keep her from walking into a tree or over the edge of a cliff. At night, she loves to climb up on top of her wagon and stare at the stars. She knows all the constellations by heart and likes to make up her own.

Background:
Saira lived with her parents on a farm until she was 13 years old. One day her mother died in an accident, she fell off her horse and broke her neck, and her father was devastated. Within a month he was also dead, and although the official report said it was an accidental death Saira knew that her father had killed himself. With all of her grandparents dead, the only relative she could go to was her single uncle. Her uncle was a creeper. Even during holidays when he had come over to have dinner with her and her parents, she knew he was messed up. So instead of going to live with him she packed up a few important belongings, her and her father’s bows, some of her mom’s jewellery, a few pictures of her family, any money she could find/get her hands on, and a couple changes of clothing, and simply left. After travelling around for a while, she heard about Equi Isles. Although people seemed wary, almost scared even, of the islands Saira felt like it might be a good place for her.
The ferry ride over to the islands wasn’t cheap and was very long, taking almost four hours. There was no one else on the ferry, and when it finally came to the little secluded dock, Saira wandered off the boat. The fog had rolled in and it was almost impossible for her to see anything more than five feet in front of her. Slowly she made her way up the very overgrown trail, pausing a few times as she heard noises in the surrounding forest. After a while of walking, she found herself at the edge of a large meadow. The sun beat down on the fog and it slowly cleared. As Saira continued on, she head hoof beats approaching. Trotting out of the forest ahead of her was a beautiful gray mare with strange blue markings on her legs and sides. She was unlike anything Saira had ever seen before. Slowly, cautiously, Saira and the horse walked towards each other, stopping about five feet apart. The mare turned her head slightly, examining the slight human figure in front of her with one of her large blue eyes. Taking two steps forward, the mare lowered her head and bumped foreheads lightly with the human girl. Saira was frozen to the spot as the mare came close and bumped her head, confused and wondering what was going on.
Virva, the mare, turned her head to look at the human again. ‘Hello.’ She thought to Saira, her mind-voice timid. Saira looked around, wondering who had just spoken, then realized the horse was looking at her again with an almost uncanny focus. ‘My name is Virva.’ The voice spoke again in Saira’s mind. Being the strangely open-minded barely-teenage girl that she was, Saira came to the conclusion, however strange it was, that the horse was talking to her. ‘Hello Virva, I’m Saira.’ She thought back to the mare politely. ‘How can I understand you? Why do you sound like you are in my head?’ She asked with her mind, curious and confused. Virva explained the mental ‘bond’ between an Equi Isles horse and it’s human to Saira, patiently answering all her questions. Saira took it better than most usually did, being so young. After a while of talking, Virva mentioned the town up ahead a ways and offered to carry Saira there. Hesitant but trusting, the girl climbed onto Virva’s back, careful to not poke the mare with her bows. With some mental suggestions from Virva, Saira settled into a comfortable position for them both and Virva turned around and headed to town. Saira had met and bonded with her first Equi Isles horse and things were looking up for her at last.

Unlike most of the other Stable Owners, Saira doesn’t have a house. She lives in a wagon(the one in the pic) and travels around a lot. There are stables for the horses set up at different places around Kanon and she tends to rotate between them, never staying in one place for very long. Her horses tend to travel with her. All of her horses are tough enough to spend most of their nights outside of comfy stables like most other horses have. They were all picked, and picked her in return, for their hardiness and love of exploring. Instead of keeping her horses in stables and fenced-off fields, she allows them to go where ever they want, knowing they are smart enough to not get into any trouble.

Personality: Vihar is very wild and spends more time away from Saira than the others. He likes to run around in storms and spend time near the sea. He is the only mythic horse in Saira’s herd so far and likes it that way since he gets special treatment.

Personality: Phoenix is a strong horse and he hates others picking on those he loves, especially his sister. They both were rescued by Saira and he is immensely grateful to her for doing so. He and his sister, Flaria, are together most of the time and take comfort from each other’s presence. Phoenix and his sister take turns pulling the wagon Saira uses as her home, and they don’t mind. They are both strong horses and Saira makes it as easy on them as she can by not carrying excess stuff with her. She even rides other horses while they are travelling so the weight doesn’t make the wagon harder to pull.

Personality: Flaria is one of the more timid of the bunch, having been abused for so long she still is a bit jumpy. She and her brother, Phoenix, are together most of the time and take comfort from each other’s presence. Flaria and her brother take turns pulling the wagon Saira uses as her home, and they don’t mind. They are both strong horses and Saira makes it as easy on them as she can by not carrying excess stuff with her. She even rides other horses while they are travelling so the weight doesn’t make the wagon harder to pull.

Personality: Embyr is more of a hot-headed horse than the rest of Saira’s group. Being born into the group, he Bonded to Saira at a young age and therefore didn’t really consider the choice much. Every once in a while he thinks about what it would have been like to be bonded to another stable owner.

The Land:

Theses buildings are scattered accross the Kanon stable lands. All the doors are swing-doors so the horses can come and go as they please.


Kanon Forest is large and it is very easy to get lost on the maze of barely-there trails. Only experienced riders and horses go there. Saira is the only person known who can always walk in and out of Kanon forest without getting lost at least for a little while. She knows the entire area so well she could probably find her way through it with a blindfold on.


In the center of Kanon Forest, there is a small river that leads to a beautiful pond and clearing. Many horses or people, when lost, simply listen for the sound of running water and follow it to the pond.


At the north east corner of Kanon are the Brudge ruins. The crumbling remains of a once-prosperous city. Many say that the ruins are still haunted by the ghosts of people and horses that lived there many many years ago. Not many are brave enough to wander the old streets of the ruins during the day, and at night it is a no-go area for just about everyone.
