Welcome to Argos Stables

These are my adopted horses from Equi Isle, a thread run by Dragoness where users can adopt beautiful horses.



My stables are located in Argos, a section of the island that contains light forests at the top of the territory, perfect for senic gallops and shade during the day. The forest fades to rich grassland for grazing and is where the actual stables are. At the bottom of the territory is a clean sandy beach. The water is clear and small fishes dance around the horses feet. After storms, it's always interesting to see what washes up on the beach.



Landmarks of Argos

Torves: Torves is located on the Island of Torves, named after the landmark. Venturing off Argos shore, you Wade knee deep in the salty seawater. Making sure not the step off the narrow sandbar that connects Argos to Torves, you continue on the short walk. In places the sandbar dips low enough to reach mid thigh, if traveled at high tide the water is usually around ankle deep. When you reach Torves, you follow the weathered cobblestone path along the shoreline until an ancient lighthouse comes into view. It's red paint is peeling off the the metal walls, but the bright beam from the top still shines out into the distance and gives off a low hum as it rotates. This is Torves lighthouse, the namesake of the island. Built here to lead wayfaring ships to harbor, it still does it's job, bringing ships in to safely dock at the harbour at it's base. From there the Keeper usually directs them to Snails house. Horses that visit the lighthouse usually come to meet ships from foreign lands, renew their connection to the sea and sky, or in search of adventure.
HORSES OFTEN FOUND HERE: Forelle

Llion: when you first reach Llion, it appears to be just another small hill in Argos' plains. But a closer inspection reveals wisps of steam rising from small cracks in the ground. Curious, you walk around the hill and find an entrance. Thats how the steam can exist- the hill is hollow! You causiously pass througth the entrance. The inside of the hill is not dark at all like you expected. Instead a soft red glow illuminates the entire cavern. As you continue walking, a dull roar can beheard getting louder, and the light glows brighter. As you turn a corner you see the source of the noise and light.... its an underground hot springs. Stream wafts off the surface of the water and drifts up to the celing that is now far above your head. Underneath the shallow water, red veins of magma can be seen heating the cavern. Llion is a destination for horses who need shelter, warmth, or company. some of the smaller caves of the main cavern with the springs are good for private conversation as the noise of the water prevents evesdroppers.
HORSES OFTEN FOUND HERE: Anastasia

Pylian: If you wander to the center of Argos Forest you may run into a circle of huge trees. The trees have been there so long that their trunks have grown together combining to form a thick living wall. Stunned you walk around the circle until an almost imperceptible glow of light catches your eyes. There's a gap in this impenetrable fortress! Another tree blocks most of the light from view in the dark of the forest, but the pathway is large enough for almost any horse to pass through. Once to enter you stand in amazement. The circle of trees encloses a perfect glade. Cool green grass coats the sloping ground, and the trees branches shade the edges of the glade. And in the middle of the glade lies a perfectly still pool of clear blue glass-like water. It is rumored that glade unicorns and certain horses can see glimpses of the future in the fiery blaze reflected in the pool at sundown. But any horse who wishes can come and watch the stars and constellations slowly spin by in the pool at night. Most horses who visit here come to calm inner turmoil, search for answers to hard questions, or return to harmony.

Name: Gwen
Age: 26
Appearance:
Gwen is fairly tall at 5'11". She has rich brown hair that falls to her waist, and matching brown eyes. She is very fit and muscular, although not in a mannish way.
Personality:
The Good: Gwen is very intelligent and resourceful. She can make just about anything from almost nothing. She loves working with her hands, be it climbing, grooming horses, sculpting, or building. She doesn't mind getting dirty, and prefers to spend her days outside either with the horses or exploring. She is athletic and occasionally participates in marathons on the mainland. Gwen can be very outgoing or cold depending on her mood at that time. She could charm the stripes of a zebra if she wanted too, and doesn't hesitate to use that charm to get whatever it is she wants at the moment. Gwen loves challenges, puzzles, and mystery books. She probably has one of the larger personal libraries on the island, and everytime she comes back from the town she carries back more books to read. Gwen also loves secrets and any scraps of information about anything. Anything personal told to her will stay secret. Her friends often come to her for help with decisions and problems. Gwen's friends and horses are her favorite people in the world and she would do anything to help them.

Gwen is very intelligent, smart and intuitive. She is enterprising, resourceful and full of skills. She likes to focus on pursuing her dreams and aspirations. She is also a daring woman that believes in extreme adventurism and exploration for all those things those are strange and unknown. Gwen is extremely creative and gifted with an uncanny ability to create new things. They can extend their horizon to see new ideas as possibilities.

Gwen is a born traveler and cannot sit quiet in a place continuously for a day! Her inherent habits are very noteworthy – set a goal, achieve it and set new goal for the next day! Gwen is a philosophical woman. She is an eternal student interested in learning and understanding unknown and strange things of life. She is also very keen in expanding her pool of knowledge. Gwen can be a good teacher as well! She likes to teach what she knows to all those who are ready to listen to her. However, she can face occasional problems because of her firm belief that she already knows a subject even when she needs to learn more about it.

Gwen possesses a wide vision about what she wants achieve in her life. She also have a has a far sight to look beyond the usual. She is also the luckiest of all other humans in Argos
The Bad : Despite her loyalty to her friends, Gwen can be selfish. She has the only-child-syndrome, and has trouble sharing things that she likes or considers special. She also has about zero qualms about lying if she determines that to be the best thing if a situation. Gwen can also be sarcastic, and in a bad mood has a shorter temper with people she is familiar with; she wouldn't ever bite anyone she doesn't know well head off.

Mare Barn

The mare stables are airy and large. Unlike the stallion stables, gates are closed at dusk every day except in the summer. The stables themselves are clean and well-kept with large windows to let in fresh breezes. The stalls themselves are extra large, because foals stay with their mothers until weaned. Each stall is only used by one horse, and a plaque outside each stall door identifies the inhabitant. Mares are free to sleep else-where if they prefer.



Heath



When you walk inside the mares barn, the first thing to strike you is the amount of space, and how open the barn feels. The next thing to fit you is the organization of the barn. Gwen must run a tight ship. The next thing are the spacious stalls. Eager to have a closer look, and see you first horses of Argos, you walk to the first stall. Taking only a moment to glance at the nametag- Heath- you quickly go and look in the stall... only to be dissapointed. The stall is empty. Turning around to go to the next stall, you see a streak of brown and teal out of the corner of your eye. You look, and moving towards you at a pace faster than most ordinary horses can reach is a stunning mare. Her coat shines a rich brown, and waves of silky teal mane and tail flows behind her like an ocean wave. The most dramatic thing about her though, is the gleaming horn on her brow, despite her lack other typical unicorn attributes.
Heath is an convoluted mass of contridictions. She is tomboyish in that she loves spending time outside, athletic games and competitions, and she can most often be found with the stallions. But she is also very feminine in that she can be vain about her beauty and unusual coloring, she views things as a woman would, and she needs to know everything going on. She is the most intelligent mare in the barn, and the undisputed lead mare when she is around. However, traveling is in her soul, and she often embarks on long trips to other areas of the island. When the mood strikes her, she can be the most charming mare around. When she is in a bad mood, she comes across as moody and cold. Her friends can expect her to never break a promise, or tell a secret. But, lies, especially harmless ones come easy to her, and she has no qualms about tellings them if they make her life a little easier. Luck is almost always on her side; she very rarely has to try hard to achieve anything she wants. Luch seems to hand it to her on a silver platter. Heath also loves nature. She is familiar with all of the vegetation found in Argos, and most found elsewhere. Animals trust her, and she does her best to care for them when they need it.

Celestrial



Walking down the row of clean stalls you look into each one to see the mares. The first stall you come to is empty, although a plaque outside to stall reads "Heath". Continueing down the row of stalls, you come to one labeled "Celestrial". When you look inside the second stall, a glistening finely-carved head curiously pokes out to look at you. Her coat is dizzying, revealing slowly spinning planets in the dark depths of space. When she walks, small astroids and bright bits of stars trail after her. She looks as though she has fallen from the heavens to land here.
Celestrial is as untouchable as the heavens she came from. She is aloof towards unfamiliar horses, but has a strange affinity for mythics besides the storm horses. They scare her. Celestrial enjoys being watched and admired, although she does nothing to purposely bring it about. Her favorite place is the glade with it's still pond, where she can watch the heaven's reflected glow at night.

Anastasia



After admiring Celestrial, you move to the next stall. A dark black, mysterious, mare looks back at you. Her eyes reach straight into you and seem to steal your darkest secrets away from you. Despite the slightly uncomfortable keen gaze, you feel you can trust her with any secret. Tearing your gaze away from her eyes, you see a white mane with swirling velvet magenta swirls against her dark black coat. She manages to appear mysterious, imperial, trustworthy, and graceful all at once.
Anastasia is self confident, loves attention, and is never wrong. She thinks she knows everything important that goes on in Argos. She is the personification of elegance, and she gracefully glides through any situation. She loves intrigue and secrets, and anything told to her will stay hidden forever.

Forelle



As you continue down the row, you come to a stall labeled Forelle. Enchanted by the sound of the name you peer over the stall door to see a sculpted white head and purple-pink eyes looking right back at you. Suprised you step back and the horse sticks her head out to see you better. She snorts, laughing at your surprise. You can't help but to smile a little at this bright and fun loving horse.
Forelle is a beautiful horse, supremely confident in herself and of her ability to do whatever she sets her mind to. Most of the time this confidence is justified; sometimes it isnt. But she never dwells on the past mistakes. She is lively and dynamic- she loves jokes and meeting new people. Her favorite day of the year is April Fools, and if you ever she her brooding, it's usually her just planning a prank. If you ever need a friend for an adventure, ask Forelle to go with you to keep you company. With her along, you will have uncommon good luck as misfortune never looks her way, and luck keeps her company through any of her travels.

Bellza

Bellza is a practical down to earth mare who easily penetrates to the heart of the matter. In conversations, she says what she means- straight up brutal truth. Don't ask her if your hair looks okay unless your prepared to hear exactly what she thinks (good or bad). But she has a special talent of calming, healing, and finding the special things about everyone around her. Universally liked at Argos, she is visited by any horse with problems they need help working through. On the other side of the matter, she needs support and love from others; sometimes seeing all the good in others makes it harder to see the special things about herself.

Stallion Barn

The stallion stables are clean white stables. Natural light comes from overhead skylights, and through the open windows of the stall's outside-facing wall. These windows are rarely closed anytime except winter or when storm mystics predict bad weather. Gates are usually left open during spring, summer, and early fall months when weather is nice. Any horse caught outside after gates close in the winter must travel to Llion.



Helios

The first stall you come to already has it's occupant visible; his head is hanging outside the stall, and he watches you with an interested gaze. His coat glows the bright orange of sunset. You squint and read the name on his plaque-Helios- like the Greek sun god you think.
Helios certainly has the confidence of a god. He takes pride in the strength and power of his body, and has a small streak of vainess that is on occasion funny. He takes seriously the duties he is asked to preform, and would never shirk them for any reason. He finds it easy to get along with stallions and mares alike as his complete self-confidence never makes him feel as though he has anything to prove to other stallions. He personally has a strong preference to the ladies... He is a strong healthy stallion with a romantic streak that usually leaves mares with a favorable impression of him
