A token item from 2016 is not worth the same as an items released in 2009. The thread linked states that the trades in the thread are not to be used as a guide as most of them are overpay.
by this logic a few overpay trades shouldnt dictate that a pet that turned vr in march of 2011 should be going for 5 nons and yet one person paid that for a raven a few months ago out of impatience and it is being currently used as a trading value.
when analysing item worth and attempt to put a value on them you really. dont have much to go by? except being aware of how an item was handed out, how long it was available for, how many active traders have that item etc.
lets take the event tokens as an example. 2016 event had an exorbitant amount of tokens. and i really do mean a lot, im pretty sure the highest amount of tokens out of all events thus far, obviously making some more widely available than others. you look at what the tokens were for - were they tokens you got straight from the banner, or intermediate tokens obtained from npcs which you then needed for another trade in? most people's goals is to get all pets in an event, realistically by the end how many people do you think would have an intermediate token left except item collectors who are few and far between?
all the values in this thread are based on researching how they were obtained, rough availability PLUS trading experiences from MULTIPLE item collectors. aside from having a (now discontinued) collection of my own, i have, off the top of my head 10 friends with complete or almost complete item collections. im pretty sure if its one trade or two it can be brushed aside as an outlier. but when it is ten people saying the same thing? id be inclined to think thats not an outlier anymore
