While yes techncally they're valued the same, some people will prefer originals and even pay less for a rerelease

no, they are both the same pet and have the same worth, one just has an older adoption date than the other. however, most people will ask for more for a true date pet vs. a re-release pet. generally re-releases will go by their value listed in this guide: Forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=4470908

and if the pet is a true date they usually have some added value, which is completely dependent on the person with the true date pet.

the epps horse is worth a 2012 vr, i don't think it has any added demand. so 2 rares of the same year. your trading partner could value it differently, however. there's not a ton of trade evidence with it included, but one of the few trades publicly listed valued it as a 2010 rare.

the august pps goes for .5 non pretty consistently.

technically no, they're the exact same pet and both the site's rarity system and archive recognize them as much. The reason we get rereleases is to keep the same pet relatively in circulation/stable so not everything ends up like store pets. Trading wise there can be a difference, for certain pets. A few also have more solidified values on the difference between a true date or rerelease

ex;
standard Joker (Rerelease) = 1.5 non
TD Joker = 2 nons (extra 0.5 non)
rr trade data/posts---td trade data/posts

standard Black Advent (RR) = 1 non
TD BA = 1.5 non (extra 0.5 non)
rr trade data/posts---trade data/posts

Some people pay extra because after 15 years they're not as easy to get so they're a bigger flex, or simply because they like how they sit in groups. True date generally just matters for;; higher list pets (mains, septembers) or very old UR's (especially high demand ones), and specific good demand pets around an MA value (t7 dogs litter, lions, possibly the mini huskies). Some 0.25 non pets will be 0.5 Non as a true date (red/gray malk dragons, wwa). A RR MA pet will be 1 MA solid, a TD with good demand may be 1.5 MA. A pet that normally has a range (ex; "goes for 2-3 MA" or "goes for 1.5 to 2 nons") might settle on the higher end as a TD

It's not really a big factor for recent UR pets (subjective but usually past ~5 years or so), non-list pets and anything lower than an MA, or even for average and low demand MA pets. A rerelease 2009 rare or true date 2009 rare will also still only net you a 2009 rare in the end.
If you're specifically in the context where the dates matter on a pet like a date swap (swapping a rr 2009 rare for a td of the exact same pet), what you add is completely up to the person. These pets aren't like the few lists that have a more solid difference established already, as not all list pets even have a difference between td or rr and many are not established firmly

tldr; there's usually only a difference for certain high stakes pets, anything else just depends on the person

2009 nick horse = 2 2009 rares each, or swap for another regular 2009 vr pet

the only 2 outcomes of the litter which are more valuable than an average very rare are the nonjewel outcome (worth a low advent or ~3-6 2009 rares), and the unicorn, which is OMGSR
