i feel like i owe the world a more efforty carrot and also an answer to the blank FAQ question DFGJH
FAQQ: WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CARROTS??
A: Human psychology /hj
No but fr I think someone better versed in psychology needs to explain this because I couldn't tell you Why. But I can tell you how this started.
Once upon a time about 48 hours ago, I asked the Stars Discord server how many saved Oekaki drafts they had. I have like 173 rn so I was curious where I sat in terms of that being a lot or a normal amount or like Nothing. Shoutout to everyone out there with like 10 drafts because I could never. Mythz sent four zoomed out full screenshots worth of drafts. Someone counted like 900+ it was horrifying mythz you scare me /lh
Mythz was lightheartedly bullied into cleaning out her drafts ๐ญ which ended up take Three Hours btw. Mythz you did amazing I'm so proud of you ๐ /srs
Anyway every so often she'd share a screenshot of one of the funnier / random sketches, and one of them happened to be a carrot. Just some random 1 minute sketch of a carrot ๐ญ I don't know why this amused me so much but something about the idea of Mythz sitting down one day like "omg I need to sketch a carrot rn" and then it sat in her drafts for years was absolutely hilarious. But she deleted the draft before she could post or finish it for the joke ๐ฅฒ
I wanted to do something silly in memorial of the lost carrot. And then these very ironic words were spoken because I did NOT think this would become an ACTUAL TREND. Accidentally predicting the future I guess. It happens sometimes. An Oekaki-wide trend was Not my or anyone's intent, I just wanted to post silly carrots with some friends DFGJH. I post silly things all the timeeee. What's the fun if you only allow yourself to draw Seriouslyโข๏ธ forever??
I post a carrot. I have no idea what carrots look like and didn't look at refs. Thank you to the carrotpocalypse for teaching me what carrots actually look like. I left that "why?" question blank kinda by accident; I lost the motivation to fill it out while drafting the post and then it looked really funny blank so I just left it.
Stars Discord had been chatting about this too so gradually other people pop in to also contribute a carrot drawing. After enough carrots are posted... people we don't know are drawing them too. I don't know why; it's gotta be a psychology thing (I've seen more "idk what's happening but I wanted to be included" statements these last two days than like the entire rest of the year). Eventually there are enough carrots in a short enough period of time that it looks like an entire meme/trend and everyone's doing it and people are appearing from the inactive-on-CS Voidโข๏ธ to draw carrots and dear Gosh there are so many carrots please help m-
Anyway that's about it. Basically a joke turned into an accidental trend. I guess this is how memes are born! ๐ฅ
---
I hope everyone's had fun with the carrot fiasco! Please remember to support your local small artists and leave a nice comment on some carrots (and other art!) from people you don't know yet! :) Maybe even follow them!! There are so many amazing artists on CS and I feel like this was a really weirdly interesting but neat way to show that off.
It's been a genuine joy to see such a diversity of style and creative ideas shared in the last few days. Everyone had such a simple prompt (literally just. carrot.) and yet everyone's drawings are unique and I think that's wonderful. CS has a beautiful art community and I value and appreciate each and every one of your carrots. (And I apologize that I lost the energy to comment on all of them DFGJH there are just too many now ๐ญ)
You all (yes, including you reading this right now) are amazing and creative people and I hope you know and believe that about yourself ๐ Have a nice day and don't forget to drink water!

Okay so by evolution and biology humans have always been social creatures. This largely contributes to the carrotpocalypse through the herd mentality, or peer pressure. 1.Mythz being (nicely) peer pressured into the drafts, leading to the beginning of it all. Through there the friends posted their own carrots. The rest of us on Chickensmoothie saw these carrots and through confusion and a want to fit in, made our own. In many drawings artists have said they donโt understand whatโs happening but they
feel like they have to participate. Most humans when seeing a trend other people are doing, follow in the trend for the evolutionary need to fit in and go with the group to belong. Many examples of this are fads in fashion and TikTok and such. One video on YouTube explores the herd mentality by people standing backwards in an elevator.
Link to that video.
