Page Seven: Special Markings IX

xxxxxxTop Row [Left to Right]

    1. Budgie
    Common Marking [40%]
Thin barring around the face of the Cupido, similar to the markings on a Budgerigar. Coat beneath is lightened. Barring color will always be darker than the base coat.
Will be hidden under sooty and white markings.

    (As shown on: Classic Champagne)
    Gene: + Budgie
    Example 1

    2. Cheeked
    Common Marking [40%]
A pale circular "blush" marking on the cheeks of the Cupido. Will always be a lighter shade of the coat. Made to resemble the cheek markings on a Cockatiel, but may be more exaggerated like in the example shown.
    (As shown on: Seal Bay)
    Gene: + Cheeked
    Example 1

    3. Toad
    Uncommon Marking [25%]
A marking inspired by different species of toads. Circular patterns along the backside of the Cupido, starting along the crest (neck) to the croup (bum), outlined in a darker shade of the coat color, and faded to a lighter color in the center (like a reversed jaguar spot). Face marking consists of darker streaks in a particular pattern, with a faded color in the middle. Will show above most other markings, but will be hidden under sooty and white markings.
    Chest spotting is optional.

    (As shown on: Palomino)
    Gene: + Toad
    Example 1 | Example 2

    Bottom Row [Left to Right]

    4. Smew
    Rare Marking [10%]
A type of dominant somatic made to resemble the markings of a Smew. Will go above all other markings, white and dominant white included. Variations of the marking are allowed as long as they are recognizable to the original idea.
(As seen on: Dominant White (Black))
    Gene: + Smew
    Example 1

    5. Mother of Pearl
    Rare Marking [10%]
Will only ever express on Cupido's with cream [Cr]. Color intensifies on double cream. A marking that mimics the iridescent lining (nacre) of the mollusk shell.
    (As seen on: Cremello)
Gene: + Mother of Pearl, + MOP
    Example 1 | Example 2 | Example 3

    6. Fractal
    Rare Marking [10%]
Black (or near-black) branching markings mimicking the lichtenberg scars as seen on wood burning. Will be hidden under most white markings. May express in exaggerated or minimal amounts.
    (As seen on: Grey (Black))
    Gene: + Fractal
    Example 1 | Example 2
