STEP ONE wrote:Start by getting the base color down and then making the face and tail markings first.
For the face, forehead markings are thin and curve around the eyebrows with a separate marking next to that. The tabby stripes come down and don't typically branch out much, though a second marking on the eyebrows is sometimes present. Markings under the eyes come from the outer corner of the eye, of which branches once under the eye, and then another stripe coming from the jaw close to the branched stripe. Typically there is another stripe or broken stripe between the two. Last stripes on the face come from the outer ends of the nose to come partially towards the inner corners of the eyes.

Stripes on the tail become thicker towards the tip and taper from the spine to the underside of the tail, ranging in 9-12 stripes total along the tail alone. Paws have the same dark color on the bottom around the pads

STEP TWO wrote:Add the leg and neck stripes. These stripes are typically thin and broken, curving towarsd the front of the body. The legs mostly have a slight downwards curve to the stripes, while the neck has a steep downwards curve.

STEP THREE wrote:Next is adding the torso spots. Although it can be hard to tell, the spots have a pattern similar to the way mackerel tabbies work- stripe-like going almost straight down the body while curving around the hips. They do not connect often and do not connect in any way along the spine.

STEP FOUR wrote:Complete the markings by having a spare few complete stripes on the shoulder guide the spots in a finger-print like shape. The corner towards the elbow also has a triangle-like shape that spots may form. The thigh forms in a triangular shape angled in a downards forward slope with the lines that the spots form. Some spots may form partial stripes but its typically broken up.

FINAL STEPS wrote:Simply finish up by making the undercoat and any other missing features. You can add white, make them colorpoint, make them silver, or even tortoiseshell!
