Personality in Full
Quiet
It's not easily noticed at first, when you begin to be around him more. Generally, people assume that the people around them are constantly talking. After hearing voices throughout their lives, it's rare to suddenly hear nothing, and yet turn to find someone beside you. Rais rarely ever speaks, and it's that startling silence that announces his presence. And what a presence it is. His very aura itself speaks for him. Appearing humble, and yet dignified, he's quite a silent deity.
Sturdy
So he's not always the nicest of Guardians. He can be sarcastic and rather cold when you manage to get him to speak. It's that trait that often gets him misjudged so often on first encounters. As you linger around him though, you'll find he's a lot sturdier than he looks. Surprisingly tender around children and protectively loyal of his God and companions, Rais is a sturdy ally that just isn't that great at being social.
Intelligent
As sharp tongued as he is sarcastic, Rais surely has a way with words. Often getting others roused with anger, Rais has a sharp mind and an even quicker tongue. He can twist your mind around with only a few sentences, making you question your beliefs and who's side your really on. Most look down on him for this handy trick, but Rais has never used it indiscriminately. He's smart enough to know that foolhardily throwing around his abilities will get him no where. Then again, he isn't against the occasional fight now and then.
Blunt
Some don't realize that when Rais speaks to you, he will say no lies. He speaks the open truth, and generally doesn't speak it unless it's needed. Whether you want it or not. He can be cruelly blunt, and sometimes people blame him for this tragic flaw. And yet, what people don't realize, is that their already swimming in a pool of lies. All Rais is trying to do, is lift you out of those lies and bring reality back down on you. No one deserves to wallow in their own misery. It's too kind, and Rais isn't exactly kind.
Form of disguise when in mortal lands
Rais admires and respects the Siberian tiger, and generally he takes this form upon entering the mortal lands. He loves the strong independence and fierce quality of this feline predator.
History
In the beginning of Rais's life, Atum recognized the greedy selfishness of the humans. He knew that, come time, they would attempt to harm the gods. Not only that, but other creatures had begun to arise, striking back at them with a ferocity that startled even Atum. With a wariness settling in his heart, Atum realized that it was time they created a being to protect them. Despite many objections against such a creature, the gods pride being wounded at the thought of needing protection, Atum reached down onto the human earth and picked up two grains of snow from the largest mountain on the mortal earth.
Using those grains of snow, he melted the snow in his warm hands and placed the droplet of water within a clay figure. That water hardened into crystal and began to beat, signaling that life had been breathed into the clay figure. That was not the end of it though. Being unnaturally careful, Atum began to shape the clay figure into something more. With each stroke, shift, and knead of his fingers, power and life began to spread throughout the figurine. At last, Atum took the figure into his hands and he breathed over it, breath filling the figurine's body.
With that, Rais took his first breath and opened his eyes.
"You are to serve me, my child. Guard, protect, and fight for me with all your life."
Atum said, staring down with pride at his newest creation. Rais looked up at his master, his eyes slowly gaining a life of their own as that droplet of hardened snow began to sing a new song within him. Then, with a sweep of his tattered wings and shift of his weight, Rais dropped to his knees and bowed before his new master.
"Forever, I shall guide you and protect you, my lord. I will not leave your side, in trouble nor in peace. You have my word, as the father who shaped my heart and breathed life into me."
Rais said, his voice filling with pride in his father, loyalty in his new master, and a mercilessness that was directed towards future enemies that threatened his father's life.
