A bird who's purple feathers matched the color of the dark, smoke-blotted sky stood crying over the smouldering reckage of a tree. There had been a terrible fire, one that blazed so fast that even the birds were trapped inside their hollows. Lira had managed to excape from the fire because she had been standing on the branch when the tree fell, trapping her family inside. It turns out a match had been lit and thrown carelessly into the forest, burning the bottom of the tree until it fell, its inhabitents unaware.
But now Lira's family was dead and she was all alone.
Lira heard the rustle of ash-covered wings behind her and saw a normal black crow. His left wing feathers were singed and his eye was tightly shut. "You did this." He hissed through a clenched beak. Lira stepped back like she had been stung. "That's how you had survived without a scratch, bright-crow. You did this."
Lira turned, and with tears in her eyes flew shakily away.
Some art for this one BIB I'm trying to get.
