They are just lions, I agree but they are also UR keep in mind so eventually they will be worth a lot more than they are actually worth atm. Most people are probably thinking it would be easier to go ahead and get them now, rather than later.

How are they not UR? They were not officially released to everyone, one of the mods told me that makes them UR (; and please don't call them stupid, the artists work hard on them so dont trash their art just because of demand!

Yes a UR pet is not officially release, but the lions were officially released because everyone had a chance at them.
