The following sound of screaming filling the night air was music to his ears. Dressed in his favorite Halloween costume, the "Headless Knight", Daniel stood as still as possible near to the candy bowl and scared any Trick-or-Treaters that came near. He would lunge with the Jack O' Lantern he held in his hands, making noises and screaming at them before they ran in terror. A few didn't, either just groaning or rolling their eyes at this grown man's antics. Regardless, everyone goot candy, and they went on their merry way.
Inside the house, one of his older boys who was totally not into the whole Halloween thing, searched through the kitchen for something to eat while he was playing Infernal Dominion with his friends. Finally his eyes settled on the Sriracha Pumpkin seeds his mother had made from their Jack O' Lanterns, and he grabbed the jar and made his way back to his room.
Later that evening, when the father returned from his scarefest, he went in search of his precious sriracha pumpkin seeds his lovely wife made for him, but after 30 minutes of searching, all he found was pumpkin husks in the garbage can.

A young flit walked along a road on the side street of her small town, dressed as her favorite Disney princess, Merida. It was Halloween, but she was a nervous flitling and had decided to get a head start on trick-or-treating while it was still daylight. She carried her pink pumpkin bucket in her mouth, and as it swung it made a small thumping noise against her chest. She noticed a wooden sign a little further up the road and paused as she reached it. It read "trick-or-treaters welcome!" She hesitated, but then began carefully up the dusty path. She found herself at a little farmhouse. Carved pumpkins were strewn around, the leaves on the trees were brightly colored, and a large metal windmill whined behind an old, but sturdy barn. She noticed a bowl on a wooden picnic table, covered in patterned cloth, and set her pink bucket down on it. It was empty, but a moment later, an older looking flit approached from around the house. She looked very friendly and a golden-feathered chicken perched on her back. "Hello, dear," she smiled. "You're a bit early, but don't worry. I will go and get the candy for you!"

It had been a very successful night. Emily trumped happily home, bag and mouth full of candy, dead leaves crunching merrily underfoot as she went. Next to her ran the family dog, a small creature named Edward Flanagan who was more affectionately known as Ed by both Emily and her mother. He yapped happily, skeleton costume onesie once brightly colored now dirty from rolling about in the dirt and leaves.

"Mom, I'm home!" Emily yelled, door slamming shut behind her as she and Ed entered the house. Her mother poked her head out of the kitchen. "Hey kid! What's the haul like this year?" She asked, bringing out the old hoover vacuum as Emily took her jacket and boots off, oblivious to the mess she had brought in.

"Mom it was SO. GOOD." Emily unwrapped an almond joy, chewing on it as she described her treats. "I got candy corn, and reeses pieces, and Mrs. Mallark was so impressed with the yellow and pink tutu that she gave me TWO tootsie rolls!" Her mother laughed as Emily danced around in her witch costume and tutu. “Halloween is the best. Night. EVER!”

On his porch, Karo was dressed up in a mummy costume as he carved into the bright orange pumpkin husk. He waved at the groups of young flitz who passed by; some would come up to his house and he offered them kit kats, snickers and mars, among others. His black cat would rub against them for strokes, purring. Taking a break, he sat back and took a sip of mint tea from his yellow tea cup with a small chip in it. His cat climbed on his lap. Karo stroked her as he pushed the carved eyes out of his pumpkin. He lit a candle and set it inside, before placing the pumpkin with the others he had carved.

A little kid wearing a witch costume walked down the street, kicking aside some dead leaves as he went. Trick or treating hadn't been very fun this year, although he'd gotten to pet a black cat. No, he hadn't gotten anything of worth at all, just some lame old candy corn and a red lollipop. He didn't even like lollipops! All he wanted was some Reese's peanut butter cups. How hard was that to come by anyways?

At least his costume was better than his sister's - she'd put on a light blue rug and called it a ghost costume. How lame.

Perhaps he'd try this house out, the one with the pumpkin husk in front of it. He walked up to the door and knocked, noting the unusually decorated rug. A very kindly looking woman peered out.

"Trick or treat?" he asked hopefully, holding out his barely full pillowcase.

"Why of course dear!" said the woman, and she proceeded to fill his pillowcase up with the best treats. Including those peanut butter cups.

"Thank you very much!" he said, eyeing his bounty of sweets. "This is awesome!"

"You're welcome!"

He certainly went home happy that night.

Completed work: There was a once little girl who dressed up in a jester costume that was made with some patterned cloth. She had decided that she wanted to go to the fair on Halloween since she could win candy AND prizes!

When she got there a clown with a big, red nose threw some skittles and kit kats at her and said “Happy Halloween!” He was passing out candy to everybody. As she walked down the booths, there was plenty of prizes. Some had fancy tea cups and others had gold fish in them. She played all of the games and rode a lot of rides!! The girl decided to check out a wood sculpting contest too. Some big, bulky men who were talented would use their saws and were given an hour to make a log into a fun object. Saw dust flew everywhere and the girl even had to back off because it was covering the men from head to toe! When the hour was up, the winning sculpture was that of a bat. It was offered to the girl for staying the entire time and watching. The little girl grinned and took her grand prize and happily marched home. (200/200)

A flit walked along a dimly lit path, toward her home. She had been out trick-or-treating with her friends. Her green candy bucket bounced and rattled with her haul of candy. Soon she saw the soft glow of the candlesticks her mother had placed in each window of her home. It was a little eerie, and when she spotted a white figure in her driveway, her heart leapt against her ribs. Drawing closer, she realized it was her younger brother in his ghost costume she had helped him to make out of an old sheet. "Hey," she said, plopping down next to him. "What's wrong?" He didn't respond and kicked at the gravel under his paws, pausing again before showing her his empty blue pumpkin bucket. "Where's all your candy?" she asked him. "A bunch of older flitz stole it," he mumbled. She frowned in anger and thought for a moment before reaching into her bucket with her tail and pulling out a wad of candy. "Here!" she said, offering it to him. He smiled and took it, opening a packet of skittles. She opened a kit-kat and they sat and talked about how they would go together next year.
