Thank you all!

Pontimus wrote:Loving the picture and the cause, I'm a big supporter of making transport and slaughter of horses humane and fair. We can't stop the slaughter as they are needed for different purposes, just like cows, sheep etc. I just think there are better ways to make the final hours of their lives as comfortable and stress free as possible.

In answer to there being no Uk slaughter houses, we do infact have three for equines if I remember correctly, but there are some people who would like them closed down, Unfortuantly meaning that the horses will have to be shipped abroad, but then again that is others opinions.

As I said before great work on the picture :)

That's awful about the slaughter houses in the UK' :C Though I suppose it is better than travelling across Europe, and three is better than thirty!

I agree with you, I have adopted a wild mustang yearling, and it makes me sad to think her brothers and sisters could be a slaughter house, when I was reading this, I started mumbling very- unkind- words about people who do this to such beautiful creatures. I swear, if I'm ever President, people who do that get to die in a hole eating worms.... >:(

This is awesome <3
I love how you actually captured it's expression, like you can almost feel it's pain.
I'm very passionate about these types of things, its terrible what some people do. If I could help every animal, I would.

For a second I forgot that you can't upload pictures on Oekaki and saw this and was like "Oh very nice picture we have here...oh wait."

I can't see past my own nose,
I'm seeing everything in slo-mo
Look out below crashing down to the ground
just like a vertical locomotive
That's a train, am I painting the picture that's in my brain?
A train from the sky, locomotive, my motives are insane
My flow's not great, okay, I conversate with people
Who know if I flow on a song I'll get no radio play

While you're doing fine, there's some people and I

Who have a really tough time getting through this life

So excuse us while we S I N G to the S K Y.

Do you know what soring is?It's also abuse.Horses don't deserve to be abused. They have served man for hundreds of years.I wish all the people that abuse these beautiful creatures to die.

A beautiful picture for a heartbreaking reality. I think this deserves a feature just to spread the word. The rounding up of wild horses is cruel and a terrible act that breaks my heart and should break everybody else's.

Hate to play devils advocate, but here we go.

rounding up of wild horses is necessary for the survivorship of wild horses. In most areas wild horses go pretty much unchallenged and have few if no natural predators in the wild due to human interference which has either over hunted their natural predators or moved them to a new location. So without wild horse round ups the population would grow, grow, grow and grow some more, over grazing and infringing on the populations and survivorship of other species, plants and animals alike. They arent rounded up because people dont like them or want to hurt them, its because any population of animal that goes unchecked becomes a swarm of locust that drain their habitat dry. And once they do that, the population themselves starves to death. Starving wild horses doesnt seem humane to me.

Unfortunately horse slaughter is a necessary evil as well, for very similar reasons. If you look at the global horse market it is full to overflowing. There are simply not enough homes for all the horses in the world due to the cost of feeding them and the amount of space a horse needs for a healthy lifestyle. it's not just wild horses that go to slaughter, but domestic ones as well that no longer have a home due to varying circumstances. you have to think of each horse and the prognosis for their life before you say no to slaughtering them. Round ups, generally (there are a few extreme cases where this is not true, as there are with everything) want to help these horses, just like humane societies do, but sometimes its just not possible since many horses are lame, sick, not large or strong enough to carry a rider or too feral to be handled and it is more humane to end the animal's life on a good note than to try and push them into a system which will likely end in them being neglected and never finding a home. Slaughter is not torture, the process is as quick and painless as possible, as is transportation, which is not an exact science for any horse, slaughter horses or show horses, but generally transport is set up in a way that it is most efficient and comfortable for both horse and shipper.

Basically, most of these mean terrible people behind round ups and horse slaughter have the animal's best interest at heart, just as i do, and would like to see them all saved and live out long happy lives. But unfortunately we just cant do that so we have to decide on a feasible option that has the animal's best interest at heart. It might seem cruel, but it's no more cruel than putting an animal down to end it's suffering.
