I have a few questions regarding edits:
can you make edits to the plant? if so, are there limitations to what it can be?
i have a few ideas, one being like a tropical plant with a flower, another being a rotting plant with biolminescent mushrooms/fungi growing on it? (the fungi could be removable if needed?) i was thinking something realistic, something similar to this or this, which has a low bioluminescence.

also, can they have plants growing from elsewhere?

Yes you can make edits to the plants any of those ideas are fine :>
And yes they can have plants growing from anywhere on their body
