Guide to the Oekaki!

username; merraki.
name; ellyra.
element; descry.
gender; female.
tail constellation; canis major.
ellyra favours this constellation most out of those on her body, simply because it contains the brightest star recorded, 'sirius'. she also likes that the dog represented by canis major was said to be so fast that he was elevated to the skies by zeus, and this myth provides a sense of inspiration whilst she's feeling unmotivated.

I picked this constellation for
its name meaning
'the solitary one'
and the history
within the constellation
and not to be confused
with Hydrus the male of Hydra
which is relativity small compared
to Hydra.
Many ancient Greeks
saw Hydra as a angry water Serpent
that a crow served Apollo
in a cup when it was sent to fetch water;
Apollo saw through the fraud,
and angrily cast the crow,
cup, and snake, into the sky.

In Greek mythology, the Pleiades were the seven daughters of the titan Atlas and the nymph Pleione. There are different versions of the story, but one is where all seven sisters committed suicide because of their father's punishment. Zeus immortalized the sisters by turning them into stars and placing them in the sky, creating the cluster of the Pleiades. Each mythology has a different story and a different purpose for the sisters.
