Personality
Devoted || Ambitious || Patient || Sly || Charming
Colette, as graceful and beautiful as a swan, yet sly and intelligent as a fox.
She's neither the hunter nor the hunted. Never wicked and never a liar, she always expresses what she feels. Colette isn't just a horse. She is a creature with a pure soul. Her nature is attracting and she is loyal and devoted to those who really care about her. To those who understand what an animal is able to feel.
She can tell who is kind hearted and has true intentions. Colette would only trust people who wouldn't harm her in any way. She is very sensitive and caring, also protective over her foals.
Since she is sly as well, you can't say what she will do in case you trick her or try to make her work for you. She is only going to listen to her rider or handler if the person tries to get a connection to her. Only few people manage to give her the feeling that gives her real trust.
I always have a picture in my head when I think about this horse. Colette dances over the pasture, trotting like the noblest Thoroughbred, looking at Me with kind eyes. I can look straight into her soul.

History
It all started with a wish. The wish to breed and raise a true champion. Colette's dam and sire were selected carefully and lots of preperations were made to give the foal the best start possible. Colette's dam wasn't an overly attractive mare, nor was she a prized show horse, but her foals all turned out beautifully and the mare had the little something that many horses don't have. Her sire was opposite of her dam. Nasty, flashy and breathtaking. An overall showoff, a prized stud with many flaws. Still many breeders found liking to him and his foals turned out to take his looks, not his behaviour.
Colette was born in a warm summer night, only with her mother and two broodmares watching.
She lived like this for one year, without being disturbed by humans she grew to be a stunning filly. When she reached the age of one and a half, Colette was seperated from her mother and returned home to her breeder's farm where the young mare started to be trained. Responding well to the lessons, she soon turned out to be a very talented horse.
Still, the older Colette got, the more her owner seemed to lose interest into her. She wasn't really what he expected and finally he decided that it would be better to sell her as soon as she would finish her training.
Carefully the trainers made sure that the mare would get the best promotion possible. After finishing her training, Colette was sold to Dakota Lake.
She found the mare through Cottonwood Wild Horse Ranch while she checked the offers hanging on a pinboard.
Colette turned out to be a very good western pleasure, as well as trail horse.
