Would more token events help cs?

Postby Elm » Fri Nov 03, 2023 11:31 pm

I was thinking, usually the highest activity i see on cs is around events that have token trade ins. Would having a couple more events a year help cs in the long run? I’ve seen a lot of people purchase c$ during events to buy tokens, pets and items, it could be beneficial! It could also help with circulating older pets/rares so newer members can get pets they like faster and still have a chance to collect more of the pet that would be in demand. It would give people more of a chance to get any missed outcomes from prior events as well!

Would this be something you’d be interested to see implemented?

I’d love to hear your opinions about this!

What month would be a place for a new event and what would be the theme?

Although I would absolutely love more events, we already have one main event for each season: Easter in spring, summer vacation in summer, Halloween in fall, and the Christmas advent in winter. (The advent calendar doesn't use tokens, but I still consider it a main event as there are new releases each day and of course the December 18 magic...)

So it might be a little difficult to squeeze in another main event.

Here is the breakdown of events and mini events:

January -- New Year
February -- Lunar New Year + Valentine's
March -- Mardi Gras (occasionally) + St. Patrick's
April -- April Fool's + CS Birthday + Easter
May -- nothing to my knowledge
June -- no event, but the GH cat litter is popular
July -- summer vacation may begin at the very end of the month
August -- summer vacation
September -- no event, but the staff dog litter is popular
October -- Halloween
November -- Halloween ends at the very beginning of the month
December -- Christmas advent + Hanukkah

Maybe there could be something in May, June, September, or November.

Some ideas: family/community festival, farming festival, art festival

I 100% agree that more long events will help the website.

As a relatively new player it is VERY hard to start trading. Especially without rare pets, since you can’t get older rares without them. I luckily had friend who greatly helped me start trading, and gave me pets to do so. But without wanted pets, trading is honestly not something a brand new player can do unless they have help like I did. More events I think could help new players a lot!

honestly maybe something for like valentines or early year could be fun tbh. i agree that trading can be hard and events definitely help (even as a "veteran" player i have trouble getting new pets) it doesnt help that most events that people can get "rare" stuff from are mainly in the second half of the year. maybe a bigger valentines event or something in the beginning of the year could be nice (im super tired rn so my brain isnt braining as much atm but u get what i mean ????)

No support.
As pointed out by Catsplat above, we already have token events 3x per year, which works out to several weeks very four months.

Having them more often wouldn't help, as it requires being on more often to collect, and in order for new players to get rare pets, they'd have to trade those tokens for the "right" pets, as most from recent events end up in the high uncommon/low rare range anyway. Events are also a time when new players, not yet knowing the ropes, often get scammed out of token pets in exchange for freebies.

And finally, events take time and effort to plan and prepare for on the staff's end, especially token events because we usually get 4-5 pages of new designs, on top of the monthly pets for that time.

Hesitant but I think no support. As others said, there are already so many that require a decent bit of time collecting tokens, and are surely a lot of work for the staff to put on for us.

Clarity edit:
Although the big gap at the star of the year does drag a bit which is why I'm a bit hesitant
I mean for token events/multiday/week events, obviously we're still getting new pets and have smaller holidays during those months

If I'm not answering, I'm probably at work. I usually get on in the late evening my time (listed timezone below)

Pronouns are they/them and you can call me Starfalling, M, or Morgan. I'm in Pennsylvania which is on EST (CStime -4)

I love trading, although I'm recently back from a long hiatus so I'm not fully up to date on demand. For any current event pets, I’ll only trade them away if I have a double, and I don't trade growing pets Real life got hectic and I somehow missed the whole month of May on here. Looking for all May pets, will keep WL updated as I go

I use bold a lot because it's easier for me to read, since you can't change other people's font size and being zoomed in constantly is annoying

I am a holibomber!
Sig was getting long, my counts have been moved to trade rules

No support. As fun as token events are, they drain my trading motivation very quickly
