Suggestion: c$ to vote for store pets

Postby not zinnia » Sat Nov 26, 2022 10:50 am

Users have been discussing how ChickenSmoothie could expand the use of c$ and thus increase the value of c$. My proposition is for CS to start an official C$ Store Pet Fundraiser Pool. This would increase engagement within the community and give users more (actual, tangible) things to do with c$ thus would raise its value a bit more.

My idea would be like a "kickstarter" where a list of store pet ideas are given (just ideas, no actual designs yet) and users are able to essentially vote for the next store pet set by offering an amount of c$ (let's say it can either be fixed at 30-50 c$ per person, OR it can be any amount). Whichever idea ends up raising the most c$ by the end of the event will be the next store pet set for sale! Maybe this "event" could run in the downtime between other CS events, like once or twice a year.

This of course doesn't factor into the actual cost of the pet once it hits the store, it just gives people a reason to use their c$ in more ways & lets users have an easy, immediate way to get their suggestions fulfilled, which is a huge part of keeping up user engagement.

Here's an example of how this might look:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------
C$ Store Pet Fundraiser Pools
Pledge C$ for your favorite idea below!

[cute teaser doodle]
Idea 1: realistic endangered animals
Funds raised so far: C$1,200
Back this idea?: [space to enter c$ amount here] OR [button that says YES]

Idea 2: pets based on popular fairy tales
Funds raised so far: C$6,187
Back this idea?: [space to enter c$ amount here] OR [button that says YES]

Idea 3: cryptid pets
Funds raised so far: C$2,457
Back this idea?: [space to enter c$ amount here] OR [button that says YES]

**disclaimer if needed: your c$ won't be taken from your account until the event is over and your backed idea wins
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm unsure if this would be included in the world of "online gambling", but if it does, maybe only the store pet idea that wins actually takes c$ from users once the event is over. The other ideas that get discarded wouldn't actually take any c$ from user accounts.

Any thoughts on this? I know CS typically never hints at the pets they're releasing next, because that is what gets people to come back. However I think implementing an idea like this at least once a year would give users yet another reason to come back and give us a more interactive "event" to look forward to!

Support, but I'd like to suggest an alternative method. Instead of the largest C$ amount winning, you can purchase a ticket to a raffle-type thing with a certain amount of C$. So the large C$ amount has the biggest chance of winning, but the lower amounts still could win. That way people don't see the biggest pool of and give up on their choice. Instead, each person's contribution would be worth a ticket. This would also allow the majority to not always rule, to give people with more unique tastes a chance at things too.

I like this idea, especially for the fact that you'd get a ticket—it's assuages the concerns about gambling if you get an item out of it!
