- Hello all!
Sorry if the title is confusing, I wasn't sure how to word this, but what I mean is the ability to duplicate one of your own drawings from the "edit a saved drawing" page, like the "delete this picture" option. Also like the "delete this picture" option, I imagine the "copy this picture" option would disappear from the "edit a saved drawing" page once the picture is posted, and instead be accessed in the main post. The way I am picturing this, the copied version of your picture would go into your unposted drawings, no matter if the picture you copied was posted or not.
The ability to have duplicates of one's own drawings can be very useful. Simply speaking from my own current needs: I work for the up and coming cat ARPG, CATACOMBS. My adopts for CATACOMBS always include several changes to the lineart- such as a white outline, thinner whiskers, some small missing pixel fixes, and a pixel outline on the color palette- that I have to remake each time I create an adopt. I tend to do similar things whenever I am making multiple color-ins of someone else's lineart- I will have several edits I make to the lineart each time I color it in, and sometimes, the edits don't look the same. The white outline could be a pixel too wide, for example, or I'll miss one of the missing pixels.
It would be much simpler, as well as make all of my designs' edits standardized, if I could make one color-in of the CATACOMBS lineart, make my standardized edits, and then copy that color-in to design my adopts. This way, all of my designs would have the same edits, and they would all still go under the main CATACOMBS page, where they belong. If I were to do the color-in method, it would bump my adopts off of the main CATACOMBS page, as well as create a useless topic that cluttered up the forums. Both of these things are undesirable when running a cohesive adoptable center.
And, of course, this is not the only use for copied drawing files either. Many people feel better when they can save separate copies of a drawing, without listing the new drawing as a color-in. And it can be especially useful when creating different versions of a drawing. And being able to have your own version of a base/lineart would eliminate useless topics that serve only as a base for one user's color-ins of an editable.
Admittedly, I am speaking from a biased perspective, as an artist for various adoptable centers. I know not everyone that uses the oekaki will need or even want this feature, but I still believe it could be useful to implement, even if those who this would benefit does not make up a very large size of CS's over-all users. I'd love to hear other thoughts on this suggestion as well, even if you aren't in support of it!
TLDR;
- what I mean is the ability to duplicate your own drawings.
- For an unfinished drawing, you could do this from the "edit a saved drawing" page, like you do with the option to delete the picture.
- For a finished drawing, you could do this from a button in the post- like the "Edit Drawing" button.
- You can only copy your own drawings, not anyone else's.
- The copies are put into your unposted drawings, to be edited and then posted later.
- If the original drawing is a color-in of another drawing, the copy would be a color-in as well.
