I tend to be a semi-level of active on CS all year but MOST around events and December 18th.

It would be rad to have at least a bi-annual chance of snagging some old beans.
i'll continue to cry about the store pets tho b/c I was too baby to buy then

I think another re-release day is a good idea! Even if it's one box.

I think we need more people to get on the site, I was on a hiatus for about 2 years but last December 18th brought me back because the community was just there and was so welcoming, I didn't even get good pets! But more reasons to come back would be great.

I also think it's getting to a point where there's SO many rares so we won't struggle with releasing too many old rares to the point where they lose their value because there's higher chance of getting newer rares and lower chance of old ones etc.

Even if they have it like the re-release only past summer event rares in summer and then any kind of rares in December 18th.

And if there's the debate of knowing what's a re-release because of the date, you could put something on their tag like the C$ on store pets. Which I think they should have anyway because newbies get confused with dates and don't know what Dec 18th is. So a pet with rr on could work to differentiate.

Or if they started putting the original dates down but having the new pet ID so it's still not as valuable as a true date!

(Although I do think true date vs rerelease is getting out of hand when things are work an extra non lmao)

Valuing original dates as worth more feeds into needless elitism. The whole point of rereleasing pets is to give new players a chance in the trade market. CS' official stance is that true date and re-release pets are exactly the same: 'True date' pets and the 're-released' versions are identical in every way apart from the adoption date, so it's not necessary to try and collect both versions. Also, pet IDs can change. There are 2008 true date pets with new IDs. If a pet has to be remade (ex. due to scamming that resulted in it being deleted) it is given the newest available ID. I can't remember where the source for this is, so maybe someone else can confirm.

That being said, I think a RR tag similar to c$ or PPS on a pet could be helpful to new players and it's an interesting idea I haven't considered. However, it would have to somehow be added as a separate lineart to every single pet from the Dec 18 box without affecting the art for true date pets, so it might not be possible, and could very well mess up whether the archive thinks you have a certain pet or not. I do think all special releases could have a UR tag added, though. They'd just have to update the image for a few pets (CS pets share the same sitewide image files, iirc).

Exactly, yes! Re-releases used to just be traded with an extra little bit which I get but I gave someone double the value for a true date once and they still didn't take it!

That's exactly what I thought as well, I have a pet that has a new ID but 2009 as the tag. Makes me wonder why they didn't do that to begin with and why they chose a different date if rr is supposed to be valued the same ?

Thats true, I'm sure I've seen things about how it would make the pet different. It could easily get out of hand and a difference in archive makes sense. To be completely honest I'm not sure how it works so I can't comment on it too much :')

The reason people want true dates is how they sort with their release date, which is based on their ID. There's a suggestion floating around that we should be able to sort pets within groups, including an archive sort which sorts pets based on when they were released.

Oh yeah I absolutely get it !! And it was good when it was like list pets would go for an extra MA or something and rares would go for some extra uncommons but now it's literally double just to have your pets sit at the back of a page 😭 I want a true date white feb SO bad but I am not giving away list pets to do that so I'll sit and be grateful I have a white feb in the first place...he sits right at the top of the first page with pride lol

Yeah I just have a separate group for re-release pets. I tried getting true dates of them, not even list pets, and it was just sucking the fun out of everything. I feel that if people had the ability to sort pets then true dates would only be a novelty...which is what I feel they should be, nothing more. They should be worth the same since they're the same pet.

I think the subject of the valuation of rereleases vs. "true dates" are a valuable one to have! In all honesty I'm worried that true dates would skyrocket in value if we did have more rereleases. Though, to be honest, if we just had control over our own pet groups it wouldn't even be a thing.

In regards to the RR tag thing—I support something in the pet info tab where, like the PPS tag, it has a link and tells you it's a rerelease.

the main reason i have any amount of valuable pets is bc me & my girlfriend used to severely undersell our artwork for cs currency + pets . it shouldnt be that hard to get things you want on this site especially considering neither of us are even new !!! we need more re releases for sure
