Re: Sell Chicken Smoothie

i just took a glance through here out of pure interest and thought i may as well throw some of my own input into here as a member of this community and site.

although i’m not fully on board with selling the game, i do fully agree that the admins should hire more coders to help implement new features into this site, rather than it staying as it has been since forever ago.

as a user of this game, i have frequently been quitting due to the repetitiveness and the same old stuff which cycles around every few months. if you’re not into trading/collecting you’re into art. if you’re not into art you’re into roleplaying, and so on. but that stuff is all the same, and many users get bored of the same few threads and people commenting upon them, which is causing the users of this game to decrease as every year passes by.

not to mention, which a lot of people already have, the admins aren’t the most responsive to criticism and changes that people within this games community want. instead, the same things happen every year.

though, if anything, as somebody has stated above, selling the game would be a very last resort, simply due to the huge changes that may cause. but i really wish the admins would be a lot more interactive and listen to people’s wants and demands (that we have been saying for years) !!

also sorry if this doesn’t make the most sense,,

i would also like new, more efficient, and more active moderators.
as well as clear writing cs rules because as one user pointed out it’s
all over the place. every run in with mods haven’t been the best, not
because i’ve gotten banned or the mod was overly aggressive but bc
i’ve always been left confused as of why i’ve been getting a warning
(specifically about my art or th links). one mod will tell me one thing
but when i go to another mod it’s something different and that could
be because of how unclear some rules are. i would look in cs rules to
see where i’ve violated and failed. not only this but there more things
i’d like to include but i’m running out of time.

EDIT: i’ve also sent in a help ticket almost a week ago and i still haven’t
gotten a reply yet, we have many moderates on the team but i’ve yet
to get a reply from one.

A bit random, but I read the title as “spell chicken smoothie” and I got confused

Anyways, I don’t really have an opinion on this, I just won’t what would happen to the sight of it was sold.. like what changes would be made?

support.

ive supported many site suggestions and seeing them all get ignored despite the overwhelming agreement of them by the players is honestly disheartening. the fact that the players are more passionate about the game getting better than the admins are is ridiculous.they should care. they should have the same amount of passion. the site needs change. to the current admins, I suggest listening to peoples suggestions and taking action if these is an idea that is hugely supported.maybe if selling the site as whole isnt an option, then pass it down to some lower staff members who have the potential and ability to make the site better. if the admins, the literal people who have that power, dont have the same care and passion to make cs better and make the NEEDED changes i dont know what to say other than real drastic change is needed.

not meaning for that to come off as ranty/passive aggressive to the admins. im just saying what i see.
the lack of follow up on hugely supported ideas for the site really is telling about the admins, and also telling how badly we need admins who care and will take action when a suggestion/idea has large support. suggestions like that dont deserve to be ignored and let to rot and later be locked as if they never existed \:

my take: i sincerely doubt selling the site is on the table, but i hope this post acts as a wake-up call for staff. if this many of your users are this passionate about you needing to step down and find new ownership, then something has seriously, seriously gone wrong, and the situation is dire. i hope this post can bring about some much-needed changes, because i think for most people, staff just listening to the users and being more responsive to our concerns would be preferable to getting a completely new owner we know nothing about.

i appreciate how well you summarized the issues with the site and changes that need to be made as well. this is definitely more on the extreme end of suggestions, but you explained why for many users, it's come to the extreme.

I'm not really sure if anyone will agree but i also have to note some issues with the oekaki update.

sketches and experiments were meant for late night random doodles, sketches, random stuff. things that just dont really know where else to go.

i understand the staff wanted everyone to be equal, and no divide between 'low quality' and 'high quality art', but now its kinda hard to decide where you want to put your random 4 am drawing/ / doodle / sketch. mentioning that, i also wanted to note that now alot of stuff is now seemed as 'spam' 'unnecessary'', so on, so on/

theres also another underlying huge problem with them updating the oekaki...

the whole time they were updating / working on it, they completely forgot how outdated chickenpaint actually is. i mean i cant even get used to it, and having this conversation with a few other people off site, many agreed and saw the same too. while they might have expected oekaki to be doing cool with a new update, chickenpaint needed it more than the forums mightve. other drawing programs i use have more variety and options, chickenpaint still feels like an mspaint but with better brushes. thats just my take

i agree tho not with the organization part. if you wanna doodle you can doodle
on your respective page (animals/creatures, humans/humanoid, etc). BUT i
completely agree with chicken paint being outdated. there’s a lot of things i
would like to see in chickenpaint that is in every other program (mainly the
wand tool in my opinion). also they’ve added a follow feature but i would
like to see the people who follows me without having to make a whole drawing
to see who follow me. most don’t even comment sometimes.

It's late pm in my timezone so I haven't read all of the previous pages but...

Yeah. I see the point, and I agree. I'm not sure I would agree CS is dying - it still sees a relatively stable base of active users, much more so than any truly "dead" forum. I'm not even sure that selling the site would be the best option, as there is the fairly sizeable risk of any new owners wanting to use CS to turn a profit, and not much else (think those annoying free-to-play but pay-to-win mobile games).

However, I agree that something needs to be done. It has been brought up time and time again, both in the suggestions and the CS discussion forum, as well as in other places, that it feels like the staff are not interested in continuing the development of CS, that player suggestions are not being heard, and that there is a significant lack of communication between the staff and the players.

Anecdote: I recently rediscovered my Flightrising account, which I made in 2015, played on for a month or so, and promptly abandoned. Remembering Flightrising as "like CS, but with dragons and also pokemon battles?" I was shocked to discover how active the forums were. I was even more shocked when the front page, and a little pop-up, notified me that downtime for regular site maintenance was expected at this time and that hour. The Site Status bar on the side of the front page was regularly updated with little notices for events, maintenance, or updates.

It was a whole new world for me. In comparison, a CS user is lucky to hear from staff two or three times a month, and almost always about the same topics: on the 1st, when new litters are released; at the start, middle-ish, and end of an event when a little notice is posted; and if there are staff applications or rule changes. Comparatively, there is almost no communication. Furthermore, the communication that does exist is exclusively staff-to-user. There is no option for user-to-staff communication (which is ostensibly what this forum is for, but I might make a longer post tomorrow about why that isn't actually happening). Everything is top-down. I was used to this, if annoyed by it, but logging back into FR showed that good, proactive, inclusive communication is entirely possible. It just doesn't seem to be happening here.

Selling is in my opinion too drastic a proposal, but perhaps a drastic proposal needs to be made in order to get the message across.

Alternatively! If the staff know that their lives have moved on, and that they have neither the time nor the interest to continue expanding and developing CS, and selling or passing on the site is not an option, then they need to tell users. Yes, it would majorly suck to hear that there are no plans for further development, but to be honest I'd prefer that to this endless limbo we're stuck in now, with no promises and no communication.

PS: staff (and the poor mods who have to moderate this thread, rip) ily and you're all wonderful people <3 i'm not mad, just dissapointed, in my opinion this is an issue with the way communication is set up on cs rather than y'all, a symptom of the system rather than an issue with the people if you will

yes. there was a topic similar to this one in the past that was locked because the replies spiraled into people ranting. while i would love for staff to respond to this, insulting them/ranting about them isn't the solution. i'm glad it seems there's a lot of people here who are providing genuine constructive criticism and ideas rather than ranting !!

That's the point. We just want updates. Even small, easy updates. Something to better the site, help it grow. There's been post after post after post after post calling for action, SOME sort of indication that the site is looked after. Pleading for something. Anything.
Nothing.

They're not coming. We've been holding out and waiting. Hoping. For YEARS.
The last time Tess actually posted some sort of feedback in the Suggestions board was in 2013.
Tess wrote:this is a great idea, and I passed on the suggestion to Nick, but he is not sure that it will be possible because there isn't an efficient way to group them by rarity (meaning that it would slow everything down whenever people tried to sort by rarity)

The post after that was in 2012, so one post, one year.

2013. What year is it now?
