You still can't send C$ through the trades (although I think it's on Nick's to do list). When you trade with someone for C$ you have to tell them what pets and items you want from the store, then they shop for you and send over the things in a reglar trade^^.

It only gives you a code that changes the background color for forums, you can't change the background color on the actual pet page. ^^;

To put up an avatar, Go "My Account" > "Profile" > "Edit avatar".
As to where to get an avatar, you can just make one for yourself in Paint, or you could try sites like Glitter Graphics to find an avatar you can use. Remember that your avatar has to be at least 20 x 20 px and at maximum 100 x 100 px. If you need to resize a picture for your avatar, you can try sites like Resize your image or if you'd like to stylize your avatar as well, Picnik might be the site for you. :D
And oh, here you can find some CS-themed avatars, if you'd like those. ovo
