even though i haven't full on quit and i still log on sometimes, i will be honest and say being on the site when there isnt an event going on has gotten boring so i agree with the people on here saying that the website has gotten boring and another reason i personally have half-quit is that the pets i used to really want, were kind of impossible to get... like i understand theres going to be a rarity system with trading but some of these pets are just so rare and hard to get that it makes some people end up giving up, and in my honest opinion it makes it worse when people hoard valuable pets too, like it makes it harder for people to get the pets they want. I'm not saying they should add a rule against hoarding pets or anything, but it does make it slightly less fair for people to get the pets they want. i personally dont have a problem with hoarding because at the end of the day it is a game but i feel like having a bunch of the same valuable pet on your account to do nothing with them seems a little selfish at the end of the day? i dont know, it could also be that people are just growing out of this game, i used to come onto here every day but as i got older i grew out of it.

Big agree. I was turned off from from Lioden for the same reason actually, despite it being a good petsim. I have so many other things I could be doing that checking that game just felt like a chore, and I feel like CS needs a bit of a balance on this front. I still pop into FR daily to do dailies and Baldwin, but here? Maybe I pop on to see if the pound is open or bump my trade threads, but there's just not really a whole lot for me beyond that when there isn't an event going on. Most days I'm only popping in for a few seconds, if that. But I will echo the sentiment that this site has VERY fun events, even if looking for the banners can be a bit tedious imo.

(Side note: appreciate the staff response! Not ignoring it, everything just moves really quickly)

that sounds good! compiling a list will make it a lot better to present to staff!! make things easier on their end (as lacuna said, so many pages lol…) would some sort of collab google doc thing be allowed? cause im definitely up for some compiling

yes please aha it’s really important to check out the thread mentioned bc mods gave a lot of reasons for why certain things can’t/won’t be implemented

I also persuade this, the staff are very inclusive and involved and i give them credit for all they do that goes unnoticed

I am an old cs player myself (a 2009 player haha.....) and there is a dream pet i've always wanted. There is someone who hoards them but they do not play the game anymore and there is no chance in getting the pet in the game (like ever) cuz its a very old store pet. *sigh* and even with old valuable pets, i'd have to sacrifice almost majority of my valuable pets in order to obtain them. I honestly just give up in collecting valuable pets i want a long time ago and just rely on the Christmas advent on the 18th (which i never receive anything new or anything THAT valuable....)... I do feel bad for the newer players that do want the old pets tho....

I appreciate the staff posts here a lot, I just wanted to say that I really disagree with “the only people who can change the trading economy are the users.” No, the trading economy change can’t just be “players have to learn to give up old pets more.” It’s not going to happen. People have emotional attachments to their collections. The trading economy CAN be changed by the staff implementing more ways to rerelease old pets. If there are more ways to theoretically get old pets back, people would then be more willing to part with them.

I want to say I am desperately trying to read fast enough to get to the end of this thread, but I physically can't. So I'm just going to make a response based on the 26 pages I have read (there were about 26 total when I started reading). Also beginning note, I am autistic and I have had that in my signature for a long time. It is incredibly common for people to bash my communication style because I do not use emojis and I'm not very emotionally demonstrative, and it sucks. I just read through a lot of posts that talked about it. I just want to say I always do my best to be fair and understanding, but I know people see the way I speak as rude and I don't know what to do about it, and it's very possible something I say here will come off that way because I want to say something so people don't insist that they're being ignored.

Another note, we lock threads when people break the rules which generally includes actual harassment against other players in cases like this (and staff do count as players). If we were going to censor this thread just for criticizing or trying to improve the site, then the other open threads like "Transparency" in this board would not still exist. Please don't fearmonger and try to make this an us vs. the volunteer staff situation or rile people up about a "security breach" that didn't happen (a summary of what happened was posted in the site news, I understand it was not shared immediately or as fast as any of us, myself included, wanted, but that was not something within my control. However, it does exist now). In a lot of ways, we are on your side and want more updates too, though perhaps not the same ones. Also, a note I saw brought up: "I hate CS" is an anti-statement we don't allow in signatures. We also wouldn't allow "I hate Warrior Cats" or "I hate Flight Rising." Constructive signature buttons like "Improve Site Security" or "Save CS" or whatever would not and were not removed. We also allow the discussion of some real-world topics and support of human rights and racial equality and even have a rule that explains BLM is okay and ALM is not. However, some real-world topics are limited due to the nature of the site, especially ones that quickly get political

I have been a volunteer CS staff member for 10+ years and a site member for 12+. I have watched everything that has gone down on the site in this time and had a decent amount of knowledge throughout it. There have been many times I've considered giving up on it myself, often because of the same problem so many people have highlighted in this thread: the community (especially with trading) has not made a commitment to be welcoming, understanding, or accepting. I barely trade anymore because I don't want people to think I'm trying to scam them as a staff member, but staff also cannot mandate the values in what is essentially a free-market economy. Even if we wanted to, I can't even fathom what it would look like to constantly warn and reverse trades because people didn't follow the "approved" way to trade.

We will not delete inactive accounts to give you their pets. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh, but part of my responsibility on CS is that every day I help multiple players who were inactive for years return. Especially if they spent money on the site, we can't just take that away (I'm pretty sure it could be a legal issue). I also don't want CS to change into a different kind of site; it is an old-school forum site and I don't think it would be possible to change that. What a lot of people like about it is a the low stakes.

Clearly, there are tons of active members here, or I would be able to keep up with this thread. I'd love to see this activity elsewhere in the forums, too. I also see people wanting staff to interact more on a personal level, and to be frank I wish I had time or means to do so along with my full-time job and all my other real-life responsibilities, or that when I did try people didn't just tell me my post scared them. The AA job is a lot of behind-the-scenes stuff, so you may not see us as much, but we are here and actively working on the site. Almost any text you saw written for the summer event (save the random text generator yesterday) was me. I love CS and I want to do all I can for it.

Finally, I'm just going to implore you to put your energy toward lifting each other up and helping each other. The only people who can really change the trading economy and the general friendliness of the forums are the users. When you get a rude trade message, please report it. We will contact people to let them know they're being disrespectful. Also, know that I am other staff will still be working on trying to get more updates worked on behind the scenes for you.

Oh, and one more disclaimer: though I mentioned rules and stuff in this post, it is not meant to be taken as an official staff announcement because I haven't cleared it with anyone and I'm literally just telling you my feelings.

I can't imagine having to deal with the absolute chaos of daily life while also making sure the community here is being safe. I fully respect staff/admin/mods for all the hard work they do behind the scenes. I 100% agree that most of the trading could possibly be fixed by the community itself!

if anyone remembers the legendary pound,,, that was a sick way to get a crap ton of really good pets

i feel like that kind of thing should be held like every year by some admin, or even tess herself
that would cause some inflation, but I think just distributing a bunch of rare pets would quite help with people (esp newbies) to get some really good pets and/or trade up

a few more suggestions such as a newbie exclusive pound (like 7 months or below) and also a better security system, such as a different login name and username, which I think would help so so much, esp with the current little hacking acc crisis going on as of recent

also everyone can very much see how much attention this thread is getting and how many people are browsing this forum, probably for this thread (most likely) i really do hope the staff see this, esp tess/nick

with what lacuna said, maybe being able to track if people have not spent money and have been inactive for over over 2-3 years, it would be really really very helpful as I know there are several omgsrs and TOO many vrs rotting away in those accounts (sending a confirmation email and such would be helpful)
