I’d love more rereleases. To summarise my thoughts, I think following the same site rules about rarities and rereleases in 2023 as CS did in even 2013 - then with ‘only’ six years’ worth of pets - is just not working. I don’t know how to enact meaningful change beyond some of the great suggestions in this thread, but refusing to change SOMETHING when there are 15 years of pets, and we’re following the same rarity/rerelease model as when there were, idk, 2 years of pets (and ‘08s were still coveted and seen as the goal then, in 2010/11!) feels like a lose-lose situation. Turning a kids’ site into some kind of model of self-regulating free market capitalism is obviously going to cause divisions in the community between those who ‘have’ - and therefore, even with good intentions, can’t really feel where anyone else is coming from - and those who don’t. Leaving it up to luck in finding a random kindhearted player to trade ‘fair’ to build up a collection is going to make people distrustful. Leaving it up to the players to decide what things are worth is going to cause divisions, and has done. Again, might have worked in 2011, because back then there were few enough pets that rarity 1+1 = 2 was the way to trade, but like…that’s long gone now. And tbh, I thought the point of Dec 18th was to stop rarities from getting extremely out of hand. If a second yearly rerelease instantly devalues everything a little, it’s doing its job, no?

I don't have much else to add, besides that I agree it's super difficult to obtain the high value pets... yes, they're meant to be high value, but at some point, it just gets frustrating and unobtainable for most people. Not many people are willing to trade off-list or "trade-down", and you really only have December 18th to luck out.... or maybe giveaways, but again that's all dependent on your luck. I'd love at least one more chance XD, again especially since we have even more years of pets and that number keeps growing!

big support. as someone who joined in 2012, the pool of pets i wasn’t around to get myself is very, very small and i’ve always seen the rereleases as a way to get pets i wasn’t around for. nowadays, i am getting rares that i had adopted when they were released, so it doesn’t really feel fun anymore. i think it would be nice to have the boxes divided into years rather than rarity; like a 2008-2012 box, 2013-2017 box, and a 2018-2022 box. maybe every few years the range for the boxes is adjusted or we get more pets. i am almost certain we used to only get 2 pets until they added a third box and guaranteed us to get a VR.
having a box with a few years other of very rares and omgsrs and then two boxes with 15 years worth of rares just seems like a lot.

Big support! Sure, I've been here since late 2010, but even with that I'm still missing sooo much. I've had to work hard and spend far more real money than I care to admit earning what I have. For the kids playing who can't buy C$ or those on a far more limited budget, who are just joining now or in recent years, it's impossible without help from others to get very far. If we had more boxes for Dec 18th, even if just 5 possible pets to snag, that would be a help. Another day for re-releases, sometime in the summer perhaps, would also be nice.
As for store pets/items releasing again, much as I would LOVE it for the ones I missed (didn't start buying store pets until 2012 with my own cash, though I have since gotten 'some' older ones) I do have to say it wouldn't be fair to those who spent real money for them if they became available again for Dec 18th. Only way I would be fine with it is if it was something like a person above suggested where you pay 200+ C$ for the box, you only get one box, and then you get a random set of store pets from the past. That way those with money can't just spend a fortune on boxes and sell all the pets for far more than they paid for it, whereas someone who can only afford one and ends up with doubles is just SOL.
Free items from the past I am fine with a re-release of. (I've recently started collecting items I've missed over the years more seriously, since my remaining missing pets are harder to obtain.) A box during the summer event or on Dec. 18th or whatever would be fine. But store items same as store pets, would need to be random with real C$ and not in a free box.
But yeah... overall I think the suggestions made here have been great! And really, it would be nice to get something I need on Dec 18th again rather than just more trade fodder.

As someone else has said, there isn't really much else to add for the time being - support this ^^.

Only thing I wouldn't be in favour of are store pets returning, it would just be very biased and unpredictable against those that spent money, or took the time to accumulate trade fodder in exchange for higher-end pets (e.g. Skelebun, Orange Cerberus). Not to mention, gambling shouldn't be a feature on a children's site.

Plenty of users would be kicking themselves over the fact that the pet they've been trying to trade away- or even successfully traded lots for- has drastically been knocked down in value.

With access to more re-releases in general, it would hopefully surpass the means to obtain these particular pets, and make it slightly easier for everyone in the long run.

For store pets during Dec 18 they could have it set so you spend a store pet set price of 80C$ or inflate it a bit to something like 150C$-300C$ and have a Dec 18th store box that can only be sold once to an account and have it give a random store pet set including whats already in store. It would allow them to be re released at a already inflated price but also allow players the chance at getting a older store pet. Or they could do like the normal 18th boxes and release 1 pet at 80C and have 3 boxes. 1 older VR box 1 mid box and 1 box for the last 1-2 years or something so a smaller lesser box. Your over paying per Pet per Box but have a chance at older pets. Just an idea for the store pet re release thing. But as many have said wishing and wanting will not change the admins minds on such things.

This would be considered gambling. There's a way store pets can be re-released, but this sin't it.

I would be incredibly furious if pets that I paid real money for were rereleased for free.

I support better December 18ths, nothing more needs to be said on that.

Store pets should not ever be rereleased. There is no fair way to do it anyway, and part of the appeal of buying them is that they are limited. It's been explained by staff a million times that they'll never be released again.

December 18th chance - Complete disregard for players who spent real money
Paid rerelease chance box - Gambling, loot boxes are also banned in some places
Reselling them at the store without chance - Can't sell them at original price, can't sell them too high where only rich players can benefit, or can't sell them anywhere in between where people who traded for those pets haven't been cheated. (And that is not the same as the student loan debt forgiveness comparison I've read once)

There are alternatives:

- Recolors and such (Dove Dog instead of Raven Dog for example)

Something I've never understood, is why it's such a huge problem for CS to have something exclusive and limited. Every game has something, whether it's kickstarter, beta, limited time purchase, limited amounts.
As an example: Roblox has Limited 'U's, there's a limited amount of an accessory/hat which are available and once all are bought, it's gone forever. You can resell them and purchase from others, but there will never be another original release. Some things are worth literal thousands of real currency, but I never see anybody whine about how unfair it is (excluding young children who don't understand and just want something cool).

Why is CS so different? I've asked this several times to no response. If somebody has a real answer, that's not "it's unfair/I want it/it's selfish/anything similar, then I'm more than happy to hear it.

But it was a promise that these pets would never be released. I've seen it's selfish and "elitist" to want this promise to be kept, or "it's fine to hurt a few players feelings so others can be happy." When real money is involved, I very darn well want the agreement that was sold along with what I bought to stay in place.

I'd like to heavily emphasise these three points made by Shooting Stars. Re-releases should always remain true to their roots instead of damaging other accounts that people have invested lots of money and time into.
It is not fair.

I would personally adore seeing 2nd gen. store pets in the shop someday; it'd be a unique concept on its own, and it's not something we've had before. For whatever reason, androids and punks come to mind as a pairing lol. Recolours could also be promising, although they shouldn't take the limelight from unique lines being released. Perhaps as a side offer it would work?

But back on topic,

Being one of the biggest reasons as to why there needs to be more re-releases, it would open up countless more trading opportunities in terms of seeking desirable pets (e.g. limited store pets). As it currently stands, the site is only most active during December, which in itself, is not a healthy balance nor necessarily what is considered thriving. It leads to disappointment when the three boxes don't contain a lucky catch for someone's collection or fodder. Repeat until next year.

With no strings attached, this would ultimately be a healthy compromise that not only prevents people from being put down, but would also gain traction in the economy and revitalize the site for long seasons on end.

I'd love to see a spring/summer rerelease, perhaps done differently to Dec 18 to make it more original and exciting (and also because the site is quieter then), and an item rerelease! Dec 18 is one day of the year, if you miss it or join after the cutoff you have to wait 1 entire year to have another chance at valuable stuff, and you're not even guaranteed something valuable or easily traded either.

I'd also love for there to be more chance at something valuable/in demand on Dec 18th, so less plain equine or rat designs and more of the designs that are popular, they wouldn't have to be super valuable but they'd at least be much easier to trade off.

Maybe a monthly valuable site raffle on the Adopts page? Tickets could either be free or require something small to enter, like a paragraph of writing, a joke, a common pet, etc. Prizes could range from ultra rare to recent rare pets.

New user rare+ gifts? I can see people making extra accounts for this, so maybe the user receives them after 2+ months of activity?

I would love to see a new pet or set of pets that can randomly appear in monthly adopts like zebras! A large set would be better because they'd keep their value for much longer. I'd also like to see zebras retired, or at least made much less common, because I feel they're becoming less valuable all the time.

I also like the idea of rare birthday gifts, I saw this suggestion a while back.

Not a "rerelease" but I'd love to see store 2nd gens or similar designs to past store pets, it'd be a great way to add everyone's favourite designs without affecting rarity or demand of the original pets!

I'd also love an art contest with multiple valuable prizes! I am not interested in entering the writing contest, but I'd definitely enter an art contest even if it was for fun.

I know this reply was from weeks ago, but I love the raffle idea. Especially if it was used as a way to bulk up the pound where as long as you donated at least one pet to the pound you would be entered in to get a rerelease box. This way newer users would have an equal chance of winning since they could donate one of their monthlies

Something that could also be fun would be second gen pets released with like a tiny tiny chance of receiving one of the parents. Although I'd worry about scalpers tricking new users out of the pets this way
