I think is a pretty good idea, but Tess would really have to make sure that the site is being put into the right hands. The only reason I even linger around here anymore is because of being stuck inside and enjoying the social aspect of a forum-based site, but if it werent for the people Ive met, Id be long gone by now. I just really want to see something new and engaging added to site, something that can help users get more involved and make this game feel more like a game. The reason why chicken smoothie is dying is because people are either growing up or getting bored because really there is nothing to do here. Unless youre an artist, avid collector or staff member (which I am none of those things), there isnt a lot here for the casual player. Not to mention I dont match the main demographic of this site at all, it feels very enclosed compared to other kids sites like neopets, which can attract an adult fanbase due to the fact that its more complex than just having a virtual pet. Sure there are a lot of adult players here, but most of them are just older users who stick around for reasons other than the pet-collecting.

Regarding staff, I think the staff does a pretty good job for not being paid, and from experience they are pretty friendly when contacted directly. Other than that though they just feel so distant, how often do you ever see higher ranking mods just posting on threads and interacting normally with players outside of responsibility? Sure, its probably a lot to handle, but even taking action on things theyre supposed to can take a lot of time. I definitely think more staff should be hired to manage the site so at the very least staff can have the time to gain a better relationship with the player base, give them more leisure time (or at least time off site because they still have lives) and let the more dedicated members be hired and help out with things. Id really just like to see some positive change to this site

Please save this game. It was my everything when I was a kid and first joined and I miss how it used to be. The only time I play now is when there is an event and that's only like what 4 times a year?

i've been stalking this thread for ages but i finally have something to say lol

i don't think a monthly event would be a good idea. i don't know about any of you but there's another pet-collecting (kind of) site which has near-enough monthly events, and i find them incredibly draining. i think the events would become too samey, just "collect x to get y" with nothing of interest to keep people hooked. we already have a kind of monthly event - the new pets. any more might be exciting at first, but novelty wears off quickly and i think those who are inactive between events would still be just as inactive. with a monthly event, the events are no longer special, or exciting, or worth coming back to the site for if you're only around for events.
that's just my take though, i totally understand that not everyone will see it this way ^^;

In regards to @Darkness and Pains comment, yes we would all love a monthly event, however it would be pretty hard for the mods to keep on making updates, maybe tiny events like flight rising has would work, but it would take a lot of time and stress for the mods to put out monthly events.

Furry paws has an event thats been going on for a month that is pretty awesome.

i'd love mini-events but i agree that it'll be a lot of work. at first i was thinking something like lioden where it's a different event each month and the theme would be the same each year, but that would take way too much time especially considering how the staff already has to focus on monthly adoptables.

• cs’ networth is 318k~ USD.

• cs should have a rank up system within the staff more often. [ like simon going from mod to admin assistant to admin ]

• tess and nick are in their 30’s

• the block feature and chickenpaint need to be drastically updated.

• a stroll through the suggestions forum is needed.

• i know the staff has said having another coder is risky + they aren’t looking forward to it, but sometimes you have to take risks, and i’m pretty positive you don’t have to hire one on the spot, just rank up the staff members as mentioned before, take a look into some skills, form a bond / trust , etc.

• cs usually dies in between events when there isn’t an event going on, how about a monthly event ?

I agree with every thing but I definitely want a monthly event or something. The last time I actrully played was Easter, between events I am on once a month just to adopt the monthly pets then I hardly am ever on I forget about it till the next month.

While I think that the whole event every month thing would be a dream, it would very likely get stale. Plus, the mods team is not big enough to handle this and even if it was it would require far too much attention. They have real lives and jobs outside of cs just as all of us do, and I don't expect or want them to dedicate their time to monthly events. However, the occasional mini event between larger time gaps between the main events would be pleasant.

But honestly I don't think more events is going to "fix" CS. I think we should focus more on how to make the events we already have more enjoyable because the whole banner thing has gotten old imo. If anyone has any ideas as to how to do this, I'd personally really like to hear it.

Personally I'd probably not be very sold on monthly events. I can see why some people would find it appealing, but for me I've always been glad that CS is so laid-back with the game flow. I like how relaxing it is to just be able to pick up my monthly pets and watch them grow, with the current number of events being just right to let me put extra effort into it every once in a while.

I remember trying to get back into playing Howrse two-ish years ago, and how much it exhausted me that one of their events would end, and then the next would already start, and it always felt like there were things to get, all the time, every time. (Even without the additional pressure they put on you to spend real money, because usually the main prizes were near impossible to get otherwise.)

It's not just an incredible effort to organize, I for one would also just not enjoy it as a player.
Though speaking as staff, it would be practically impossible to pull off with a team our size. The artists would have to churn out so much additional content, and it'd give us all more than a handful of extra work around the event forum, too.
It's possible for sites that are more commercially oriented and have a sizeable number of employees, but CS is a bunch of volunteers.

Many sites that do have monthly events also have vastly different gameplay. If your site has, for example, actual usable items (not the decorative ones we have), those make easy prizes. They're often already in the game, so maybe you have to introduce one or two new ones for an event, but otherwise can get away with minor prizes being pre-existing things.
Pets in breeding sims are similarly easy to distribute. Flight Rising's monthly events rely heavily on user contributions, because the vast majority of new items they put out are skins that players designed.

Making events on CS means designing and creating a ton of brand new artwork. You could make the point that we could create special pets and items that rotate annually and get re-released for their respective events, but I think people would get a little fed up with those after the novelty wears off. People generally aren't that big on re-releasing the same content over and over.

• what about adding two "mini" events in? obviously, a monthly event would be almost impossible for the staff to produce, and with the halloween and christmas events, it would provide no breaks in between. but, perhaps there could be, not an event, but just an extra release of items and pets, just enough to spark some more activity in the website. personally, i would love a designated time once a year for releasing new store items.

There are no websites that can magically tell you how much a site pulls in. One might as well assert that Tess is a millionaire There are plenty of valuable factual arguments that can and have been made on this thread, using fabricated figures only serves to undermine those.
