I'd honestly like to see the site passed on to other staff who are continuously active, because many staff are doing the best they can for all of us

I've been playing since 2011, and watching the decline of the site is actually painful. As discussed, there's little communication with the staff who have the power to make changes, even among other staff members, or front page updates (no matter how minor and 'boring' they would at least tell players that things are happening). The Forums are a ghost town. Pet trading is...well, it's harder. The average player doesn't usually want any pet that's younger than a year or more common than a rare. The heavy demand for rarity/age has eclipsed the hard work that goes into each monthly adopt, so that collecting the various outcomes by trading with others is a thing of the past.

These all seem to me like symptoms of a problem rather than problems themselves. The problem being that CS is fading away and needs help. We don't need to remove all the features of the present site or a institute major overhaul. But players aren't engaged on Chickensmoothie in the manner they are on other, similar sites.

I really don't understand why people are expecting large content updates for this site. It's remained nearly unchanged since 2008, barring redesigns and changes to the pound, but the content as a whole has remained the same. What would you guys want/expect in terms of large updates? I've been active on CS for a few years (without playing other pet sites) so I can't fathom what they could possibly add. Mostly I would just like to see more clear and fair rules, which should be doable for the current mods.

I honestly feel like Tess's job is being taken over.

It's hard to explain but I feel like Tess isn't interested in the site anymore, I mean update wise the game is okay, but the rules are so hard to understand, and users get unfair warnings for stuff.

I feel that's quite true. One of my threads, I had bumped every 30 minutes, and was doing fine, but I got warned swiftly. I didn't realize that I had to be off the first page at that point.

But, then, I go to the home page and the same thread is in there, filling up all the slots every few seconds, and it's because the same user is bumping every time they get the chance.

For the Tess thing, I feel like it's true aswell. Tess hasn't replied on this thread and I don't think we've actually seen any replies from her on any suggestion form since 2013. I feel like If she wanted to say something, she would have said it a long time ago. I don't understand. Has she been watching on the sidelines, or completely absent ?

Well, we know that she hasn't been completely absent, since she still appears on the Announcements board. It's disheartening to see most suggestions go ignored, though.

While I agree that we as a staff team can make more of an effort to communicate with the community, I don't see anything that is broken or wrong with the site. Nick fixes any bugs or issues pretty quickly from my experience.

Trading/collecting has been very difficult to deal with. Or at least, systems that were put into place back in 2011 era is not keeping up. We've gone from a few thousand pets to well over 10k.

Or if they're not broken, say why.
Say why having 5,000 pets per rarity marker is fine instead of what was once just 1,000 per pet in 2010. Say why this isn't just throwing rarities out the window as if we never have them at all. I just want to know what the thought process is here. I know about that post from simon back in... 2011? I can't find it. It was one of the first times we talked about having more rarities. It talked about having rarities by number and it wouldn't "feel" any different.
It's 2020. Any time I trade with someone, I have 5,000 pets on their wishlist to dig through and no way to set up a trade I think would be fair other than "uncommon for uncommon" which would knock out... what? a thousand of those? Great.

Yeah, the actual bugs are fixed quickly, but we have systems that technically aren't broken but feel very insufficient and haven't been updated for the most part
