To me, its not that Tess responds or doesn't to this thread in particular. Its that she doesn't talk to her users at all. The last time was for a single announcement regarding black lives matter. It doesn't feel like she's invested in the site anymore.

Not only that, think about how late her response was. It was after the start of protests. It was WELL after Floyd’s death, if I remember the date correctly

(quick edit because i had to look it up, edit: her post for BLM was June 14. Floyd was killed May 25. nothing was said for almost three weeks.)

I feel like when she talks, it’s not because she cares, it’s just because she feels “mandatory” to

I hope this isn't considered spamming, but I really appreciate the condensed pile of info that Tailish provided on page 44. :)
[I skimmed it down to the part I was happy to hear about since it's a rather Large post. And I hope others check it out.]

Many people are not going to read through over forty pages worth of content to see if anything is being done or heard. They Might read the first post, posts on the last page, or Maybe the second to last page. But those helpful posts from higher up's are going to get lost, and forgotten unless it's posted about again.
Thank you.

i'm sorry, but tess being active "in event planning" doesn't mean anything to the users of this thread who are asking for change. when nick, simon, lacuna, and various other moderators/admins comment on this thread except tess - a side founder - it raises a various amount of questions. the goal is to improve communications between cs and its users, and tess hasn't even made an effort to come forward and speak on this topic? whether it's because she feels like it's being handled well by her other admins or not, it's so disrespectful to the users of this thread who are all collectively raising their voices and trying to get noticed.

I really agree, and I am a bit disappointed that the founder of the site hasn’t posted.
I am beyond ecstatic to see so many members of staff posting and watching this thread, it makes me so happy that we are being seen and heard! I just wish Tess would say something as well. This site is her baby, and I miss seeing her around, interacting with people, and implementing changes for the better in Chicken smoothie. I guess I just don’t understand, is all...

I really want this thread to be at least acknowledged by her, so we can see that our voices really have reached as high as possible. If we don’t reach the very top, I feel like we might come tumbling down, and there could be a big possibility that all of this can be forgotten. In no way do I want to disrespect Tess, or come down on her, but we really need something.

I've been on this site since I was a kid, and now I'm an young adult and still hang around mainly for the pets.
I really debated posting here but I think after being on this site for so long I can possibly offer some insite?
I feel personally that the activity of staff, Tess particularly, made a bit of a curve. When I first started it was minimal, then as more members came on, it grew, and in recent years its died down.

I do NOT think that is a sign of the site dying. I really truly do not think Tess would let it die.
I understand wanting a response to your questions but this seems very dramatic and comments about people begging for statements, its all just very dramatic and comes off like they are itching to accuse people of anything. 2020 has been a scary and terrifying year for everyone, and many people are still struggling every day. I think considering current events, cut the staff some slack.
It's okay to be stretched thin and not put your entire heart and soul into a website for a year or two. We don't know her personal life, and she doesn't really owe us a statement about everything all the time.

And by the accusatory tone of many of the comments I've read (not all), Tess is probably spending several days choosing her words carefully or like others said, waiting for this to blow over.
My point being, this seems like a very dramatic stretch to try to pry into the personal life of someone whom I'm assuming none of you know personally. Having concerns for the website is okay but use common sense.

(I probably won't see or respond to replies, not because I don't care but simply because I'm busy and have trouble keeping up with these kinds of things XP)

"use common sense" is extremely amusing seeing as thats what this entire post is about. cs, whether you view it as such or not, has lost so many members within the past few years that it's no surprise that this thread was made. in comparison to other websites, with the same theme, cs has fallen behind in site updates, new features, quality of life changes, and generally changing with its members. the last time there was a massive amount of members online was three years ago. on december 17th. which is one of the biggest site events on cs. obviously a massive amount of people chose not to stick around after this.

when over 300 people, nearly 400, come together and say that the site is dying - (conveniently, nearly the number of users online as i write this, but its rather late here anyway) that means there's a problem. this isn't people "reaching" or being "dramatic."

multiple threads like these have been posted in the past to urge cs moderators into admitting theres a problem. this is the only one that's actually gotten a bundle of responses from the admins.

multiple mods and admins also came forward to admit there's an extreme lack of communication between moderators and users, so to say that everyone is being dramatic is an overstatement. i've been around since 2011 as well, and we must be on opposite sides of cs if you think cs isn't dying. dying doesn't mean ~100 members. it means a rather large decline in members in general, which there has been. people are leaving the site or going on hiatus every day, because of the lack of updates, the fact it feels like moderators don't care about us, and because of the lack of communication.

also, if tess were waiting for this to blow over, how disrespectful and inconsiderate would that be to her users? we're reaching out and asking for a grain of salt. it isn't too much to sit down at a computer and write up a heartfelt response, taking up maybe 10-15 minutes of your day.

I think that since the topic was so sensitive she and all the staff had to really think about what they wanted to say and how they were going to say it. If they said something without thinking it through and processing what happened they could have slipped up and said something mean or disrespectful. You also have to consider that they are humans too and they may live where riots were happening so their priorities were to stay safe.

Also I think all this stuff about calling it unhealthy communication and what not isn’t exactly fair. :/ this isn’t one on one communication, and without Tess this place would never have existed in the first place?
Of course I want to hear from Tess too but we could be a bit nicer to her :(

I agree. Tess does run a virtual pet site, and have a life. We don’t know what her life is like, she could perhaps live somewhere where her number 1 priority is to stay safe. We have to be patient. But I do agree she is taking her time to post. Many of the utterly amazing people we call the staff have posted, but not Tess. Or Sorren Fey. We should still give them some time to post. I don’t think we should pressure them into posting. I think we should wait a bit longer.

Also, thank you to the staff who have posted to support this or just to say your still here for us. We all really appreciate it 💕
